Neil Magny reacts to tying MMA superstar Charles Oliveira's record, nearing No. 1 spot after UFC 330 win

Neil Magny has put forth his reaction to tying former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira with an incredible record. 

The 39-year-old also opened up about closing in on the No. 1 spot, which currently belongs to Jim Miller.

Neil Magny made his professional MMA debut back in 2010, and his UFC debut transpired in 2013.

His most recent Octagon appearance witnessed him defeat Ramiz Brahimaj via second-round TKO in their welterweight matchup, which took place on the early prelims portion of UFC 330 in Philadelphia on August 15. 

It marked the 25th UFC win for Magny, which puts him alongside the 36-year-old Charles Oliveira for the second-most UFC wins ever.

Meanwhile, the 42-year-old Jim Miller leads the prestigious list with the most UFC wins at 28. Magny, Oliveira, and Miller are all currently active competitors on the UFC roster.

During his post-fight press conference segment, perennial UFC welterweight Neil Magny opened up about his latest victory and more. The American combatant of Haitian and Dominican descent has fought some of the very best the sport of mixed martial arts has to offer over many years. 

He boasts wins over the likes of Kelvin Gastelum, Hector Lombard, ex-UFC welterweight champions Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler, former interim UFC welterweight titlist Carlos Condit, and many more notable fighters. 

The crafty veteran is, as such, revered for his longevity and consistency in the consensus world's premier MMA organization, the UFC. On that note, Magny, during the aforementioned press conference, hinted that he doesn't plan to rest on his laurels. 

Upon being questioned about whether he thinks he could catch up with Jim Miller's record before retirement, Magny stated, "Yeah. I mean, I think Father Time is working in my favor to be able to catch up with Jim."

Magny suggested that Miller could probably attempt to continue competing till the age of 50 if he wants to. Nevertheless, he alluded to his confidence in potentially surpassing Miller's record by the time they've both retired. 

He said, "But I think just from durability and timing, I'll be able to catch that record eventually." 

When asked about having entered the exclusive club of MMA fighters who've won 25 UFC fights -- the only others in it being Jim Miller and Charles Oliveira -- Magny asserted that he was simply grateful to be able to do it. 

"The Haitian Sensation" signaled that it's "crazy to see" because he'd have never imagined such longevity when he started his journey around 20 years ago. 

Furthermore, Magny shot down talks about his potential retirement and reaffirmed his desire to compete for as long as he possibly could. He noted, "Retirement fight is not even on my radar."

In fact, he emphasized that he'd like to continue his winning ways and ascend the welterweight ranks again, ideally reclaiming a spot in the top 15 soon.
