Paulo Costa Calls out UFC’s Surprising Double Standards

Paulo Costa is unhappy with UFC’s alleged double standards with Alex Pereira’s rankings.
Paulo Costa doesn't seem to be happy with the UFC’s operations. As Wang Cong and Natalia Silva are headlining UFC 332, Costa is furious about his exclusion. Following Carlos Ulberg’s injury, the Brazilian fighter wanted to headline UFC 332 for the interim light-heavyweight title. When that didn't happen, the 35-year-old went off on the promotion.
Paulo Costa Unhappy with Alex Pereira’s Rankings
In a recent statement, Costa stated that he was confused about how UFC’s rankings worked. Accusing them of double standards, the Brazilian fighter cited Alex Pereira as an example. He questioned how Pereira still features in the UFC light-heavyweight rankings despite his recent move to the heavyweight division.
Costa also added, “The UFC has no consistent standard of behavior or set of rules, they always use double standards. Why is Alex Pereira still in the light heavyweight rankings after fighting in heavyweight and losing? And why is he 4th in heavyweight with not a single win there, and ahead of Gane?"
Surely, it looks like the heat is rising between Costa and the UFC. As he wasn't at all impressed with how the promotion dealt with his recent situation.
Paulo Costa Lashes Out at Dana White and Company
Costa seemed pretty eager to get his name up in the championship bracket. The Brazilian star has secured dominant wins in back-to-back fights. Sadly, the promotion did not pay heed as the 35-year-old was allegedly denied a shot at the title.
Furious about the situation, Costa recently said, “UFC stripped Valentina out From her Belt due injury. Also Carlos ulberg is injured and MAYBE fight second semester 2027. Put the LHW interim belt in line and I WILL COME TO SAVE THE LHW DIVISION! UFC REFUSED TO PUT LWH INTERIM BELT IN LINE. Why? I dont know.”
Interestingly, the Brazilian also pointed out that his time in the UFC is limited.
