PFL announces Bryan Battle vs. Boris Atangana for card in Lyon
The former UFC fighter will face the undefeated PFL middleweight prospect on Dec. 19 in Lyon, France.
Bryan Battle has his next fight. The former UFC fighter is set to face Boris Atangana at PFL Lyon on Dec. 19. The American will meet the undefeated Cameroonian fighter at the LDLC Arena in a middleweight matchup. The PFL announced the bout on Friday.
Bryan Battle Faces Undefeated Prospect
Battle arrived at the UFC in 2021 when he won The Ultimate Fighter 29 middleweight tournament. During his time in the promotion, the American won seven of his nine UFC appearances, suffering only a single unanimous decision loss to Rinat Fakhretdinov. However, despite his record, his time in the organization was marked by back-to-back missed weights. In 2025, after missing weight for his fight against Nursulton Ruziboev, which led to the cancellation of the bout on the eve of the event, Battle was released by the UFC.
Immediately after parting ways with the UFC, Battle signed with Dirty Boxing, where he competed twice and won both fights. In 2026, Battle joined the PFL and made his promotional debut in March when he was submitted by Johnny Eblen. Less than five months later, the American bounced back when he won a split decision against Dalton Rosta. Now, Battle has a big challenge ahead as he takes on undefeated prospect Atangana.
Boris Atangana Looks to Remain Unbeaten
Atangana, meanwhile, still has a short but promising professional MMA career. The Cameroonian fighter turned professional in 2024 and has remained active since then, making nine appearances and winning all of them during that period. In fact, Atangana has never gone the distance, winning seven fights by TKO or knockout and two by submission.
In 2025, Atangana joined the PFL and has already made four appearances in the promotion. Most recently, he knocked out Jared Gooden in just 65 seconds at PFL Brussels in May.
Battle represents a significant step up in competition for the undefeated fighter. The American has faced several established names during his UFC run and will now look to hand Atangana his first professional loss.
PFL Lyon will take place at the LDLC Arena on Dec. 19. The event will be headlined by Taylor Lapilus and Mitchell McKee in a bantamweight title fight.
