The featherweight is already setting ambitious goals after earning a UFC contract with his win on Dana White's Contender Series.

Roman Puga's dream of reaching the UFC has become a reality, but the undefeated featherweight is already looking ahead. After earning a contract with his victory on Dana White's Contender Series, Puga made it clear that simply reaching the promotion is only the beginning of what he hopes will be a long journey toward building a name for himself in the UFC.

Puga enters the UFC with a 6-1 professional record and is riding a five-fight winning streak. The featherweight has built momentum throughout his recent run, culminating in his decision victory on DWCS.

Roman Puga Earns UFC Contract After DWCS Battle

Puga earned his UFC contract following a hard-fought decision victory on Dana White's Contender Series. The featherweight said he felt confident that his performance had done enough to impress UFC CEO Dana White, especially after the two fighters went the distance in a competitive battle.

"It still feels like Cloud Nine kind of. It's almost unreal," Puga told MMA Junkie. "I knew right after I won that fight that I got my contract, and I got the feeling that so did he. We went the distance, we went to war and showed a lot of heart and showed what Dana White wants to see."

Roman Puga Has Sights Set on UFC Gold

With a UFC contract now secured, Puga wants to remain active and quickly establish himself in the featherweight division. The undefeated fighter said his long-term goal is to become a household name, accept any challenge put in front of him and eventually compete for the UFC title.

"Quickly, I want to stay active and become a household name in the sport. Showcase that I'm here to make history. I'm here to leave my own legacy in the UFC and I'm willing to fight anyone and everyone in front of me to show I can become a top contender. Then when I become a top contender, we'll have the discussion of what's next. We already know what I want, and that's the UFC gold belt. I'm not going to beat around the bush about it. I want that UFC belt around my waist. The featherweight division."

Puga will now look to carry the momentum from his Contender Series victory into the UFC as he begins his pursuit of a place among the featherweight division's top contenders.
