Sean O'Malley Changes His Prediction for Petr Yan vs. Merab Dvalishvili
O'Malley has changed his prediction for Petr Yan vs. Merab Dvalishvili after learning that Yan underwent a nine-hour back surgery. O'Malley recalled rushing back from his own surgery to fight ‘The Machine’ and called it the biggest regret of his career.
“I was nowhere near where I needed to be, and he was extra confident… These surgeries take 5 months to heal. This really changes my thought process on this fight. I thought Petr was going to go in there and dominate, but him getting surgery that close to the fight changes everything,” during his recent show ‘Suga’ said.
‘Suga’ initially expected Yan to dominate but now believes the surgery could make a big difference in the fight. However, O'Malley also pointed out a mistake by the Georgian fighter in traveling late to Abu Dhabi.
Sean O'Malley Warns Merab Dvalishvili About Major Mistake Ahead Of Petr Yan Fight In Abu Dhabi
O'Malley believes Dvalishvili is making a mistake by arriving in Abu Dhabi just six days before his fight with Petr Yan. O'Malley recalled traveling there three weeks early for his own fight against Yan because adjusting to the time difference was difficult.
“When we fought Petr Yan, we went out three weeks before the fight. I'm thankful we did that because the time zone was f*cked up. Petr Yan has probably been out there doing his thing, so it's an interesting fight, man," during his recent show ‘Suga’ said.
Adjusting to time zones can be a difficult challenge for fighters. Still, in Abu Dhabi, fans are going to see an action-packed night, as Dvalishvili is aiming to reclaim his bantamweight belt. Can he do it? Only time will tell.
