Tom Aspinall Drops Respectful Ian Garry Take Ahead of Islam Makhachev Bout

The Ian Garry vs. Islam Makhachev fight is heating up. With less than a week to go for the fight, the tension is at an all-time high. Both fighters have so far traded verbal blows with each other. However, despite Gary’s impressive striking skills, it’s the Dagestani champion who is being touted as the favorite. Meanwhile, trying to analyze the fight, UFC heavyweight star Tom Aspinall did not count Gary out. 

Tom Aspinall Gives Ian Machado Garry a Chance

Aspinall recently appeared on ‘Tom Aspinall Official’ to dissect the UFC 330 main event. Looking at Makhachev’s sound technique and fight IQ, the 33-year-old initially called the Dagestani the favorite. Soon after, the British fighter revisited his prediction and dropped a hint of doubt about Makhachev’s win. 

Aspinall said, “Islam Makhachev decision... I just think that he's got more chance of controlling the fight than Ian landing something. That being said, I think it's completely possible that Ian can win. And I'm not 100% confident in my prediction either, but I can't think that anybody in the world division is going to beat Islam at the moment."

Aspinall further presented how the Irish fighter had great cardio. Gary has been in a couple of 5-round bouts. While he lost one of them against Shavkat Rakhmonov, Gary did not have a problem maintaining his shape throughout. Nor did he look fatigued at any point. Thus, the UFC heavyweight champion concluded that the fight won’t be an easy one. 

Islam Makhachev Confident About Defeating Ian Machado Garry

Ahead of the fight, Makhachev has looked extremely confident. Khabib Nurmagomedov’s prodigy has now become a UFC legend himself. After transitioning into the welterweight division, Makhachev won his second UFC title by defeating Jack Della Maddalena. Now, he is confident about successfully defending it. 

In a latest statement, the 34-year-old said, “I can make this fight easy. I just have to follow my plan, and I can beat him in the first round."

He has also claimed that the UFC audience will cheer for him since they do not like Garry.
