Travis Browne thinks he “deserves a rematch” with Antonio Silva

|

UFC heavyweight Travis Browne (13-1-1) is eyeing a rematch Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva.

Browne, who was knocked out by the Brazilian in the main event of UFC on FX 5 last October, claims the torn left hamstring he suffered in the first round played a large roll in his first career defeat.

Browne recently spoke with MMA Fight Corner.

“Definitely [I want the fight back]. I think I deserve it, you know it was just a freak accident, I’ve thrown that kick 10,000 times and you know, just on this one time it happened to pop on me.”

‘Hapa’ is not trying to make excuses for the loss, but in his mind the injury happened at the worst possible time and effected his performance. Considering it was the first time Browne had lost in his ever lost in his 15-fight professional career, he feels a rematch with Silva is in order down the line.

“…The way I look at it is that’s the only man who can stand there and say that he beat me, that he beat me up, that he whupped my (expletive). So I want that fight back and you know, yeah I want another shot.”

Luckily, the hamstring injury does not require surgery. As far as when Browne will be able to return to the Octagon, he envisions his next fight taking place in early 2013.

“I’m about two weeks ahead right now of schedule. So it’s coming along great, I should be back training full-bore by December, and then hopefully I’ll be able to start fight camp in February.”
