“You Can’t Defend”: Josh Hokit Reveals He Challenged Ciryl Gane to a Basketball Battle at the White House

Josh Hokit believes he can defeat the current UFC heavyweight champion in any sport and has said this to his face.
Despite his controversies, Ciryl Gane is considered one of the most athletic heavyweights in UFC history. ‘Bon Gamin’ is a technical striker with long range and exceptional movement.
Apart from MMA, the 36-year-old has also been seen playing soccer and basketball. Aiming at his basketball skills, Hokit took shots at the Frenchman ahead of their title fight.
Josh Hokit Jibes at Ciryl Gane
During his appearance on the Believe You Me podcast with Michael Bisping, Hokit revealed he shared a locker room with the current heavyweight champion when they competed on the same UFC Freedom 250 card in June.
Hokit described the brief interaction with Gane, and it was hard to believe for the host himself. “We were sharing a locker room together. I saw him and I pressed him about basketball. I was like 'how long you've been playing basketball?... It don't f*cking matter how long, you can't defend this move,” Hokit said.
The American heavyweight said he backed Gane and did a fadeaway, which he demonstrated to Bisping in the interview.
Hokit has his own way of saying things. He often receives mixed reactions from fans for the same. Despite the controversies, Hokit has often proved himself inside the cage and is just one win away from UFC gold.
UFC 334: Gane vs. Hokit
Ciryl Gane became the undisputed UFC champion after Tom Aspinall vacated the belt last month. Gane had won the interim belt by defeating Alex Pereira at the White House.
Now, he is scheduled for his first-ever title defense against Hokit. The fight will headline UFC 334 on 14 November inside Madison Square Garden in New York.
Hokit has been a prominent name in the promotion mostly because of his antics. However, his resume is hard to ignore.
He is currently undefeated in MMA, with a record of 10-0. He has six straight wins in the UFC, five of which are finishes.
Now, this is his chance to put his money where his mouth is and silence his critics. Otherwise, he might just become another UFC prospect whose momentum comes to a sudden halt.
