Seksan details longer training camp for huge rematch with Muangthai at ONE Friday Fights 114

Seksan Or Kwanmuang has faced off with Muangthai PK Saenchai on four prior occasions, but in his mind, this week’s showdown is more pivotal than any previous encounter

“The Man Who Yields To No One” meets “Elbow Zombie” in 140-pound Muay Thai action at ONE Friday Fights 114, this Friday, June 27, inside Bangkok, Thailand’s Lumpinee Stadium.

Seksan Looking for Fifth Straight Win vs. Muangthai PK Saenchai Friday at ONE Friday Fights 114

Seksan holds a 4-0 lead against his compatriot, having outsmarted him in each encounter outside of ONE Championship. But in the present day, Muangthai has only evolved into a determined, durable striker, who rides a two-fight winning streak into the bout with both victories coming by knockout.

The Thai legend is known for remaining in shape for a fight, any time, any place, but Seksan’s giving Muangthai the respect he deserves by undertaking a lengthier camp than usual, preparing himself for everything his younger nemesis looks to throw at him.

“I’ve been training for a longer period here in Bangkok because this camp needs to be intense. Fighting Muangthai is no ordinary feat. This fight will definitely be a tough one,” Seksan revealed.

“I’m training at The Ratchada Plaza. This time, I have some foreign fighters and the younger guys from the gym. I’m focusing on elbows and punches to fight him.”

Seksan Looking to Get Back in Win Column

Recalling their previous bouts, Seksan has fond memories of locking up with Muangthai. He also knew he’d have to bite down on his mouthpiece and trade with his counterpart – an attribute that has become a renowned part of the 36-year-old’s game.

However, heading into ONE Friday Fights 114, the slugger isn’t where he wants to be. He’s currently in the midst of a mixed bag of results, having suffered his first knockout loss in the promotion to American star Asa Ten Pow and a narrow decision win over Soe Lin Oo.

So as much as a fifth clash with Muangthai contains some bragging rights for Seksan, the outcome of the contest weighs much heavier as he looks to rebuild some much-needed confidence.

“Fighting Muangthai was always exciting. I received applause from the fans every time we met. Especially our last fight at Lumpinee. It was incredibly exciting,” he said.

“The fans cheered throughout the entire stadium because we are both aggressive, forward-moving fighters, which made the fight incredibly entertaining.

“This fight is very important to me. If I win this fight, I can redeem myself after my previous knockout loss, and it will give me the momentum to keep moving forward.”
