Tyson Fury and Derek Chisora Trilogy Targeted for December

For a third time, Tyson Fury and Derek Chisora will face off inside the ring.

According to a report from ESPN’s Mike Copinger, both parties are in working on “finalizing” the third bout between both men. The targeted date is December 3rd of this year with Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the United Kingdom to play host to the trilogy. Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk most recently fought inside the massive stadium that holds over 66,000 people for its boxing events.

Fury had eluded to retirement after his most recent bout with Dillian Whyte He defeated Whyte in short order as he knocked out his fellow Brit at the close of round six of their bout back in April of this year.

The bout with Chisora also comes after Fury nearly finalized a deal to fight Joshua before both sides couldn’t come to an agreement. Fury had set a deadline for a deal to be done and it couldn’t be kept, a deadline that had a deal that promotor Eddie Hearn said had “no chance.”

For now though, despite a fight with Joshua potentially raising a significant amount of excitement, this trilogy bout with Chisora will do the opposite.

Fury dominated Chisora in their previous meetings. Their first meeting was a unanimous decision win for Fury back in 2011. The most recent bout between the two came in 2014 when Chisora was stopped in round 10. Compared to Joshua as well, Chisora is at least coming off a win against Kubrat Pulev back in July. Before that, however, he had lost his previous three bouts to Usyk and Joseph Parker twice.

Chisora, who turns 39 three weeks after the expected bout, will be looking for not only revenge but the biggest win of his career. For Fury, this is a chance to continue building a resume that is already putting him among the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time.
