UFC 304 goes down this weekend from the brand new Co-Op Live arena in Manchester, England. The card is headlined by a pair of title fights in the heavyweight and welterweight divisions. Throughout the entire card there is a strong British feeling, however, some Brits have missed out on the homecoming PPV.
We look at those who missed out on getting a slot on UFC 304.
UFC 304: 5 Fighters Who Missed Out
Melissa Mullins
No Mess, Melissa Mullins wanted to be on the Manchester card, however, it isn’t to be. She made her UFC debut at 5-0 and after a fun debut where she won via decision, she dropped her next one via knockout.
The Coventry native lives just two hours from Manchester and would have certainly brought a number of fans to the event, however, let’s hope that she gets to compete in an arena with fans next time out. She’s yet to compete in front of fans having fought twice in the Apex.
Monserrat Rendon or Stephanie Egger or are both fights that make sense for the Brit next.
Jai Herbert
One of the biggest fan favourites in the British MMA scene, Jai Herbert didn’t make the cut at UFC 304, rather he will be competing a week later in Abu Dhabi. Why this is the case and Herbert doesn’t get to make the walk in his home country isn’t obvious.
Rolando Bedoya will stand across from The Black Country Banger in Abu Dhabi, looking to snap a two-fight losing skid.
Jack Shore
Tank, Jack Shore has got to feel hard done by not to feature on UFC 304. The Welshman is coming off a controversial loss due to a cut (on the leg) and is certainly fit. Almost three months later, Shore still hasn’t got a fight booked.
Nate ‘The Train’ Ladwehr is without a fight and that would certainly be a fight that would be a fan pleaser. Even though it hasn’t been booked for UFC 304, we need to book it anyway.
Gunnar Nelson
Gunni, Gunnar Nelson is a stalwart on UK cards. Three of his last four fights have been in London and he’s currently enjoying a two fight winning run, including a finish last time out. He’s been out of action since March 2023 and has been extremely inactive as of late. He’s had just five fights since 2018 and isn’t currently booked.
A fun match-up could have been against Jake Matthews but that won’t be happening at UFC 304.
Davey Grant
England’s own, Davey Grant is guaranteed fireworks and it’s a loss not to have him on the card. He’s recorded five post fight bonuses, is a fan favourite and has recorded an impressive 13 finishes throughout his career. He’s competed just twice in the UK since he made his debut in 2013.
He did have to pull out of a fight against Cody Gibson in March, so perhaps he still isn’t fit, however, it’s a loss not to have him on the card.
