UFC Fight Night: Beneil Dariush vs. Diego Ferreira Preview

The UFC will be making its return to the UFC apex in Vegas for UFC Fight Night 184. The card will be headlined by heavyweight contenders Alistair Overeem and Alexander Volkov. The main card will also feature lightweight contenders Beneil Dariush and Diego Ferreira. Dariush is ranked 13 at lightweight while Ferreira is currently ranked number ten. A win in this bout would easily push the winner into the top ten of the division and line them up for a big fight in the near future.

Beneil Dariush (19-4-1)

Dariush is currently on a five-fight winning streak with three of those wins earning him a performance bonus. Dariush is a black belt in both jiujitsu and Muay Thai. He has always been known to be extremely dangerous on the ground with eight of his 19 wins coming by submission.

As of late, we have noticed Dariush’s striking has been evolving at a rapid pace. He finished both of his last two fights by TKO against Drakkar Klose and Scott Holtzman. He also has wins over Frank Camacho, Drew Dober, James Vick, and Michael Johnson. Dariush also holds a decision victory over Ferreira back in October 2014.

Diego Ferreira (17-2)

Ferreira has been on a tear in the lightweight division and is currently on a six-fight winning streak. Winning a performance bonus for his last win which was a second-round submission over Anthony Pettis. His biggest victories include wins over Mairbek Taisumov, Kyle Nelson, and Jared Gordon.

Ferreira has only two losses in his professional career. One of them was the decision loss to Dariush and the other was a knockout loss to Dustin Poirier. Both of his losses came back to back as Ferreira’s UFC record stands at 8-2. Ferreira is a 3rd-degree black belt in Brazillian Jiujitsu. Meaning this could be a great jiujitsu matchup but it could also mean that both men will decide to stand and trade with each other at UFC Fight Night 184.
