Why ONE On Prime Video Can Shake-Up The U.S. Martial Arts Scene

ONE Championship and Amazon will kick off their partnership on August 26 with ONE on Prime Video 1: Moraes vs. Johnson II, and the event has generated a lot of buzz already.

But in addition to the event, it is clear to see that this may shake up the U.S. martial arts scene.

MASSIVE Amazon/ONE Deal Can Shake-Up the MMA Industry

Prime Video is a massive platform. As part of their fourth-quarter earnings report, the company stated more than 200 million Prime members streamed television shows and movies during 2021 (h/t Tony Maglio of IndieWire).

Everyone who has a Prime membership with Amazon has access to Prime Video. The potential from sports fans discovering ONE is immense, and it could generate an influx of excited fans who see a differentiated product catching fire.

As ONE delivers exciting Muay Thai, kickboxing, and submission grappling matches that domestic fans rarely get to see on an elevated platform, ONE offers something unique that other promotions do not. And that is on top of their incredible mixed martial arts action.

Additionally, Amazon is investing in live sports content. They are not just signing anybody they can. Prime Video is taking on the world’s top sports brands, and ONE is part of that process for the streaming giant.

Prime Video includes deals with the National Football League (NFL), English Premier League (EPL), New York Yankees, and many more.

“This is a seminal moment for the distribution of our content,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said about the NFL’s deal with Prime Video. ONE is now alongside the NFL on the same platform.

It is clear to see why ONE was on Prime Video’s radar. As previously reported, ONE’s digital footprint and growth have exploded in the past few years. The verifiable evidence is there with the Neilsen report.

ONE’s organic video views trail only the NBA, and their year-to-year growth continues to spike.

The positive trajectory of ONE, combined with Prime Video’s gigantic platform, shows the future to be extremely bright for martial arts and ONE in particular.

This partnership could dramatically impact the landscape for years to come.

ONE on Prime Video 1: Moraes vs. Johnson will air live on Prime Video on August 26 at 8 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
