Demetrious Johnson injured, UFC scraps main event title fight against John Moraga at TUF 17 Finale

|

The 2013 injury bug is in full swing and it’s latest victim is UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson. “Mighty Mouse” has been forced to withdraw from his TUF 17 finale main event against John Moraga with an undisclosed injury.

UFC officials announced the injury late Tuesday evening.

No word as to the extent of Johnson’s injury or his timeframe for return, but the UFC did say that they would be announcing a replacement main event for the TUF 17 finale in the coming days.

Johnson’s (17-2-1) most recent trip to the Octagon was just two weeks ago, when he put on a show in a five round war against John Dodson at UFC on FOX 6. This will be Johnson’s second fight in 2012.

Moraga (12-1) is riding a seven fight winning streak and is currently 2-0 inside the Octagon. In his UFC debut he was expected to take on Ian McCall, however due to injury ended up beating Ulysses Gomez by first round KO. At UFC 155, Moraga won his second fight with the organization against Chris Cariaso by third round submission.

The TUF 17 Finale will go down on April 13 from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. On the card is a heavyweight battle between Gabriel Gonzaga and Travis Browne. Also featured on the card will be the middleweight tournament finals.
