With his original opponent out due to injury, Chael Sonnen’s favorite wrestler will now be taking on a UFC debutante at UFC 164 in Milwaukee, WI.
Derek Brunson injured, Brian Houston in vs. Yoel Romero at UFC 164
MMA Opinion broke the story earlier today.
“Soldier of God” Yoel Romero (5-1) is a great example of a late-comer succeeding in MMA. The 36 year old former Olympic silver medalist spent the bulk of his athletic career as freestyle wrestler for his native Cuba before coming to America and getting into MMA. Last seen at UFC on FOX 7, where he scored a Knockout of the Night-worthy victory over Clifford Starks, Romero uses a diverse striking attack mixed with powerful takedowns to beat his opponents into submission. Will he be able to do the same to the newcomer, Houston?
Brian “B-Hue” Houston (4-0) is a name that many people may not be familiar with, but the Disorderly Conduct fighter has been quietly building a reputation in the Southern MMA scene. The middleweight prospect has notched 3 first round stoppages in his past 3 professional fights, and also has a victory due to submission to strikes on his amateur record. The heavy-handed “B-Hue” will be looking to put fist to face while trying to overcome the Octagon Jitters. Will he able to do both and win the night over the dangerous Romero?
UFC 164 goes down on August 31st from the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee, WI. The main event is currently a rematch for the lightweight title between champion Benson “Smooth” Henderson and the man who defeated him in the final WEC lightweight title match, Anthony “Showtime” Pettis.
