Jon Jones’ tasks keep getting harder. And that’s not an understatement by a long shot.
The Light Heavyweight championship belt will next be contested on April 26th at UFC 172, according to a report by theĀ Baltimore Sun.
This will be the UFC’s first visit to Baltimore, and the occasion is set to be marked by a colossal battle that will see Jon Jones (19-1) defend his 205-lbs strap against the always feared, top contender, Glover Teixeira (22-2).
Jon Jones vs Glover Teixeira slated for UFC 172 on April 26 in Baltimore
Tickets for UFC 172 will go on sale, February 7th, to the public.
Jones, 26, fights for the first time since his epic five-round battle with Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 165 back in September. The Jackson’s MMA native notched a close Unanimous Decision victory on that night but to date, many viewers believe the nod should have been given to Gustafsson instead.
Nonetheless, Jones’ impressive winning streak will once again be in jeopardy when he locks horns with Glover Teixeira. The Brazilian has won five-straight under the UFC banner and has earned his right to vie for the title having topped the likes of Ryan Bader, James Te Huna and Quinton Jackson thus far.
With both fighters boasting incredible finish rates in their respective victories, expect this fight to go down to the wire.
UFC 172 will air LIVE on PPV, following prelims on FOX Sport 1 and additional expected undercard bouts on UFC Fight Pass.
