A lightweight fight between undefeated Myles Jury and veteran Diego Sanchez was next up on the UFC 171 fight card.
Jury landed a few head kicks and punches that forced Sanchez to put his hands and say “come on.” Sanchez rushed in and both fighters landed non-effective shots that forced the fight up against the cage. Again with just under two-minutes left Sanchez put his hands out, but Jury didn’t play in to it. Jury landed double-leg takedown to finish the round.
Sanchez started the round with a flurry, but Jury was able to back-pedal his way out of it. A flush punch from Jury opened Sanchez up just underneath the eye. A stiff left hand landed for Jury and he was able to use it to get a takedown. Sanchez cinched up an arm-in guillotine, but Jury gave a thumbs up to the referee. The two finished the round swinging.
Sanchez began the third round, with another storming in with punches, but it didn’t phase Jury. As a counter-striker, Jury more than tripled the amount of punches that Sanchez had landed. Late in the final frame, Jury landed a flying knee and then took Sanchez to the mat to finish things out.
Jury (14-0) improved his record to 14-0 and 5-0 inside the UFC Octagon.
Official Result: Myles Jury def. Diego Sanchez via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
