Donald Cerrone and Khabib Nurmagomedov fight scrapped 20mins after it was signed

|

Khabib Nurmagomedov called out Donald Cerrone minutes after “Cowboy’s” highlight reel knockout at UFC Fight Night 45. Cerrone didn’t care who he fought, whether it be at 155-pounds or 170-pounds, however Nurmagomedov has always been on his radar.

On Thursday evening the fight between the two was signed for UFC 178 on September 27 in Las Vegas. Unfortunately 20-minutes later the fight was scrapped due to unforeseen circumstances.

“That fight was done,” UFC President Dana White said in Dublin on Friday. “[UFC matchmaker] Joe Silva sent the email out, and 20 minutes later, [Nurmagomedov] went into the gym and blew his knee out. Twenty minutes. So that fight’s off.”

No word as to what will happen with Cerrone now that Nurmagomedov is on the shelf, but when White was asked what was next, the answer was simple.

“Make another fight.”
