Josh Koscheck is rumored to make his return to the Octagon for the first time in over a year against rising star Neil Magny at UFC 184 in February 2015.
Josh Koscheck vs Neil Magny in the works for UFC 184 in February
MMAjunkie.com first reported the matchup but the UFC has yet to officially announce it.
Koscheck (17-8) has been on a year-long hiatus but never officially retired from the sport due to dropping three fights in a row to UFC Welterweight Champion Johny Hendricks, No. 1 contender Robbie Lawler and most recently, top 170 pounder Tyron Woodley. If the former title challenger wants to keep his MMA career in the premier promotion of the world alive, he badly needs a win over Magny.
Magny (13-3) had a terrific year, going 5-0 in 2014 most recently finishing William Macario at UFC 179 in October. Many people believed he deserves a top 15 opponent, but it doesn’t look like he’s going to get it. If he gets past Koscheck successfully, he definitely deserved a ranked fighter next.
The bout placement for this fight is unknown at this time.
UFC 184 takes place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA on Feb. 28, 2015. The event features two title fights; a middleweight showdown between champ Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort, and the women’s bantamweight strap goes on the line when Ronda Rousey takes on No. 1 Cat Zingano. Also on the card, ‘Jacare’ Souza takes on Yoel Romero and ‘Bigfoot’ Silva takes on Frank Mir.
