Shocking news was confirmed by the UFC today, as arguably the Greatest of all Time, Anderson Silva, tested positive for Drostanolone metabolites, an anabolic steroid. MMAFighting.com also reported he tested positive for Androsterone.
A statement issued by the promotion read:
“On February 3, 2015, the UFC organization was notified by the Nevada State Athletic Commission that Anderson Silva tested positive for Drostanolone metabolites on his Jan. 9 out of competition drug test. UFC’s understanding is that further testing will be conducted by the Commission to confirm these preliminary results.”
The NSAC received the test results on Feb. 3, and contacted the UFC. The pre-fight test was conducted on Jan. 9. A test was also conducted on the Brazilian on Jan. 18, but those results have yet to come in.
Silva’s opponent, Nick Diaz, also popped for a high level of marijuana metabolites.
Initally reported by Yahoo’s Kevin Iole, Diaz had over the allowed 150 nanograms of the metabolites in his body.
