The BFL 37 main event has hit a little speed bump. Battlefield Fight League Featherweight Champion Jeremy Kennedy has been forced out of his main event bout against fellow undefeated prospect Kyle Nelson due to a hamstring injury while training at Team Alpha Male last week.

Kennedy announced the injury via his official Facebook page.

Jeremy Kennedy injured, forced out of BFL 37 main event
Unfortunately I pulled my hamstring while wrestling last week. After trying to push through it all week and train around it, It has not got any better so I am forced to pull out of my scheduled fight July 25. I am devastated. This is the first time in 18 fights that I’ve ever had to pull out. For 3 months i have been training up to 3 times a day and have invested a lot of money into this training camp, traveling and training at team alpha male. I’m hoping to reschedule it for BFL38 in September so this fight can still happen.
Kennedy (7-0) will put his featherweight gold on the line, along with his undefeated record to stake claim as number one 145er in Canada. After a stint in Thailand, “JBC” returned to B.C. to fight in front of his hometown crowd, defeating Andre Da Silva at BFL 32 and most recently stunning Mario Pereira in the main event at BFL 34 in January.

Nelson (6-0) is also looking to keep his record unblemished and bring the BFL gold back home to Ontario. His most recent outing was in May 2014 at Substance Cage Combat 2.0, where he tapped out Ainsley Robinson just 42-seconds into the very first round.

No word at this point whether Nelson will stay on the card, or Kennedy will get his wish and fight at BFL 38 in September.

BFL 37 will air live on The Fight Network on July 25.
