Charles Oliveira and Clay Guida are set to meet in a lightweight encounter at UFC 225. This comes after Bobby Green pulled out of the event.
The UFC announced the match-up earlier today.
Green was set to face Guida, but after it emerged he was out of the fight, Oliveira stepped in. UFC 225 takes place in 10 days.
Charles Oliveira steps in at UFC 225
Oliveira (22-8, 1NC) has competed under the UFC banner 19 times, compiling a record of 10-8 with one No Contest. After missing weight badly before his loss to Ricardo Lamas, the Brazilian moved back to lightweight, and submitted Will Brooks at UFC 210. Following the win, he faced Paul Felder at UFC 218, but was stopped in the second round.
Guida (34-17) is currently riding a two fight win streak, with a decision win over Erik Koch and a first round stoppage win over Joe Lauzon. The 36-year-old has been fighting in the UFC since 2006, and has fought names such as Nate Diaz, Rafael dos Anjos, Benson Henderson, and Chad Mendes to name a few.
UFC 225 takes place live from the United Centre in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday, June 9th. The card is set to be headlined by a middleweight championship fight between titleholder Robert Whittaker, and Cuban Olympian Yoel Romero.
