After the success of CES 55 and the first-ever MMA event held in Connecticut, the promotion returns to the Connecticut Convention Center for CES 56. The event takes place May 31st in Hartford, Connecticut. While notable CES contracted fighters such as William Knight and Fabio Cherant get ready to compete for a UFC contract on season three of DWTNCS, some familiar faces from CES 55 return. Among the returning names is one challenging for a CES title.

The Challenger

Dan Dubuque picks up where he left when he challenges Bruce Boyington for the promotions featherweight title. Dubuque makes a quick turnaround after defeating Antonio Castillo Jr. by unanimous decision at CES 55. The victory brought Dubuque’s record with the promotion to 2-0. Previous to this recent run at the CES title, Dubuque held the Cage Titans lightweight strap. He did so by topping the formerly undefeated Jimmy Manning in the main event of Cage Titans 38. Currently, Dubuque is on a 4 fight win streak. He’s won 6 of his last 7.

Bruce Boyington Returns at CES 56

The champion, Bruce Boyington comes into CES 56 sporting a lengthy layoff having competed last eight months ago. Boyington captured the promotion’s title by defeating UFC veteran Sean Soriano by way of rear-naked choke back at CES 51. His victory earned him a second professional title.

Boyington is a true veteran of the sport. His professional debut came back in 2009 when he faced former Bellator fighter, Rick Hawn. The CES featherweight champion has a wealth of experience having fought for many different organizations including World Series of Fighting (Now PFL) and ACB (Now ACA).
