Conor McGregor is back and will face Donald Cerrone Jan 18th

McGregor has been out of action since his loss last year to Khabib Nurmagomedov. He’s had his share of out of the Octagon incidents. People were wondering if he’d ever step foot in the cage again. According to Dana White, he will, at welterweight against Cerrone.

According to a report from ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, McGregor is headed back to the Octagon. He has signed to face Cerrone at 170-pounds to headline UFC 246 in Las Vegas on January 18th.

White also announced that Cerrone has signed a new multi-fight deal with the UFC. The fight with McGregor is a great reward for Cerrone who has always stepped up and fought anyone, anytime the UFC has asked.

The two will meet at welterweight in what will likely be one of the most highly anticipated fights in recent memory. Cerrone has lost two in a row, so he needs a win in a big way against McGregor.

McGregor has gone 2-2 in his last four but wins and losses aren’t as important for McGregor who is a massive PPV draw and will likely jump to the head of the line with a victory. For Cerrone, a loss here would likely relegate him to gatekeeper status. He is a very popular fighter because of his willingness to fight at any time. He’s also respected due to his wildly entertaining fight style.

As of now, it’s the only fight announced for the UFC 246 card but as more develops we will have it here for you. I’m sure White and the UFC will want to stack this card with some big fights. That way they can showcase their talent with as many eyes as will be on this event. Expect to see fighters calling each other out for a spot on this card.
