KSW is at it again in 2020 since resuming action with KSW 55 set for October 10, 2020. The event will air live on KSWtv or on the KSW mobile app. The main event has been set for some time as KSW middleweight champion Scott Askham will battle KSW legend Mamed Khalidov for the second time.

Main Event- Scott Askham vs Mamed Khalidov

The two are set to rematch after their previous meeting at KSW 52 in December 2019. Askham walked out the winner via unanimous decision. Neither fighter has been in the KSW cage since then. Askham told MMASucka previously he was ready to get back to action and Khalidov was the only name presented to him. He is also having to do his training in Germany but to COVID travel restrictions not allowing him to travel from England to American Top Team in Florida.

Khalidov is back after a few retirements for one more crack at the top. His name is synonymous with KSW and he’s been apart of the organization since KSW 7. For one of the greatest of all-time, this will be Khalidov’s 12th straight main event headlining role. Though he is getting late into his career and has lost his last three, no one can take away the accomplishments Khalidov has earned.

Co Main Event- Aleksandar Ilic vs Michal Materla

Looking to rebound after dropping his last bout in November 2019, “Joker” Aleksandar Ilic moves into the co-main event spot to battle former middleweight champion Michal Materla. It’s possible this bout could determine the new #1 contender for the middleweight crown. Askham stated to MMASucka that his sights are set on Tomasz Narkun and a shot at the light heavyweight championship. Ilic blew onto the KSW scene with an amazing headkick knockout of Olympic medalist Damian Janikowski at KSW 47 in March 2019. Generally, a finisher, eight of his 12 victories have come by knockout.

Michal Materla is another one of those founding members to really put KSW on the MMA map. A veteran of the organization since KSW 6, the former middleweight champion has gotten back on track, earning a first-round guillotine choke victory in just a touch over one minute at EFM 3 this June. 22 of Materla’s 28 wins have come by the finish. When two finishers collide like this, you can expect main event quality fireworks.
