In an Interview with John Morgan, we asked him his thoughts about Israel Adesanya moving up to the light heavyweight division to fight Jan Blachowicz. He said “ If I take Jon’s old belt, I think I can force him to come back down to me.” He also said that Adesanya vs Blachowicz is a big money fight compared to Blachowicz vs Glover Teixeira and the UFC is a money-making company.

Interview With John Morgan

He was asked about Israel Adesanya’s career and what he thinks he’s going to do. Morgan replied, “I don’t feel that Adesanya is going to be around for a long time cleaning out the division, I think he wants to make these Conor McGregor-esque moves where he’s doing big things.”

Morgan was then asked who he thinks should fight for the vacant lightweight belt if Khabib Nurmagomedov is officially retired. He replied, “ I wouldn’t be surprised if by the time January 23rd rolls around (Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier) we made that for a title” With John Morgan, we talked about many things including Khabib Nurmagomedov’s recent performance at UFC 254. As we all know, after his win, he retired.  We asked him if he thinks Khabib is really retired. This was his response. “Originally, no, with the emotion he had and him bawling. He doesn’t need any money, so we’ll see what’s next. It will be interesting to see whether he’s back but as of right now it doesn’t look like he’s coming back.”

Another thing we asked John Morgan was who are his top three for the greatest fighter of all time. His response was simple, ”I think Jon Jones, Demetrious Johnson you gotta have him in there and I probably put George St-Pierre in there as well”. It’s sad because there was a time when Anderson Silva should have been there. If you take that prime Anderson Silva, you could put him in there. Khabib Nurmagomedov is not a bad one to have in there. I just don’t feel like he was fighting championship-caliber opponents till later in his career. I think all those names belong in the conversation.” The greatest of all time talk will always be different for people and it will be interesting to see how it unfolds. It was great interviewing John Morgan and talking about MMA!
