Double G FC 5 Results and play-by-play coverage

SEOUL – MMA Sucka was on scene and reporting live from Saturday’s Double G FC 5  event, and you can check out a full play-by-play and official results below.

The event took place at the KBS Arena in Seoul. The main card aired on SPOTV 2 for Korean audiences as well as the Double G Fighting Championship official Youtube channel for the non-Korean audience.  The undercard aired only on their official Youtube channel.

In the main event, Tae Ho Jin edged out the favorite Han Seul Kim by split decision to become the new inaugural Double G FC welterweight champion.

Likewise in the Co-Main event, Rae Yun Ock got the better of Won Bin Ki by unanimous decision to become the new inaugural Double G FC lightweight champion.

Double G FC 5 Results – Undercard

Young Hoon Lee vs Da Won Yoon (Lightweight bout)

First-round.  Lee lands an early leg kick.  Lee controlling the center of the cage early.  Lee lands a jab as Yoon tries to counter.  Yoon grabs a single leg and transitions to a clinch, pushing Lee towards the cage.  Yoon takes Lee down and takes his back.  Lee turns into him and reverses.  Lee gets up.  Yoon lands a jab and makes Lee miss followed by some light outside leg kicks.  Da Won Yoon gets another takedown using the cage.  Yoon takes Lee’s back again in a scramble.  Yoon maintains control of the back using his legs locking Lee’s body.  Lee is able to escape out the back.  Furious punch exchange at the end of the round.

Second Round.  Fierce punching exchanges.  Yoon trying to clinch Lee but shook off.  Lee lands some nice damaging punches including a strong right hand.  Lee with a quick flurry of hooks as Yoon backs off but Yoon is able to secure a takedown and take his back again.  Yoon going for a rear-naked choke.  Sinks it in and secures the finish.

Result: Da Won Yoon def. Young Hoon Lee via R2 submission (rear-naked choke)

Hyun Sung Park vs Dong Hyun Seo (Flyweight bout)

First Round.  Tentative at the start.  Few punch and leg kick exchanges.  Seo going for a takedown and gets it.  Seo maintains top control as Park looks for a triangle submission from the bottom.  Park uses the fence to get back to his feet.  Seo goes for a takedown and pays for it eating a huge knee from Park.  Park capitalizes, grounds and pounds him, and gets the finish.

Result: Hyun Sung Park def. Dong Hyun Seo via R1 TKO (punches)

Min Woo Kim vs Mu Song Choi (Featherweight bout)

First Round.  Tentative start.  Feeling each other out.  Measuring distance.  Kim controlling the center.  Choi land a quick nice right hand. Kim lands a jab.  Choi tries to land punches but Kim is managing the distance well.  Kim lands a quick jab as Choi lands an outside leg kick.  Kim pawing with that left hand trying to look for an opening.  Choi charges in with a flurry with some success.  Choi enters with a flurry and lands a left hook. Kim clinches up against the fence and scores a takedown.  Round ends.

Second round.  Kim with a nice jab to the head and then to the body.  The jab is consistent but not damaging.  Kim with a double leg power takedown in the center of the cage.  Kim maintaining top control.  Transitions to half guard then top mount.  Choi scrambling but unable to escape.  Kim landing a few good punches from top mount.  Choi scrambling but continuing to eat punches, not the most damaging but definitely scoring points.  Choi scrambling giving up his back as Kim goes for the rear-naked choke but unable to sink it in as the positioning is not correct.  Round ends.

Result: Min Woo Kim def. Mu Song Choi via unanimous decision

Sung Kwon Kim vs Hun Seok Lee (Lightweight bout)

First-round.  Lee pushing forward with a flurry and lands a leg kick.  Lee lands a nice right hand.  Clinches up against the fence.  Kim scores a takedown and tries to sink in a guillotine choke.  Lee stands back up and lands a nice punch flurry as he disengages from the clinch.  Kim lands an outside leg kick knocking Lee off balance and lands a counter left hook punch as Lee comes in, dropping him.  Lee momentarily stands up but is knocked down again as Kim grounds and pounds for the finish.

Result: Sung Kwon Kim def. Hun Seok Lee via R1 TKO (punches)

Double G FC 5 Results – Main Card

Young Jin Hwang vs Young Jun Kim (Bantamweight bout)

First Round.  Kim lands a front leg sidekick.  Accidental low blow by Kim.  Kim tries to go for a head kick does not land cleanly.  Leg kick exchanges.  Kim goes for a takedown but Hwang sprawls quickly.  Kim lands a kick to Hwang’s body.  Hwang lands a nice inside leg kick.  A lot of feints going on from both men.  Kim grabs a single leg and gets a takedown.  A lot of scrambling but Kim maintains top control from the full guard. Kim transitions to side control and lands a few small punches.  Hwang is able to get back to his feet.  Kim lands a body kick.  Hwang grabs a body kick attempt from Kim and looks to trip him but the round end.  Round ends.

Second Round.  Kim baiting Hwang a little by sticking his head out with his hands low.  Kim with a nice left hand.  Hwang attempting body front kicks but falling a little short.  Kim goes for a single leg and gets a takedown.  Hwang shuffles his back to the fence and attempts to use it as a way of getting up.  Kim controlling his back.  A lot of scrambling.  Hwang ends up with his back to the fence on the ground.  Kim gets the top mount and starts to ground and pound.  Hwang scrambles and gives up his back.  Kim has leg hooks in maintaining back control on the ground.  Hwang attempting to get up but is unsuccessful.  Round ends.

Third Round.  Hwang lands a body roundhouse kick.  Hwang lands a strong right hand.  Kim goes for a takedown but a quick sprawl from Hwang defends it. Young Jun Kim goes for another takedown and gets it but Hwang is able to get back up using the fence.  Kim lands a nice left hook.  Hwang pushing forward.  Another takedown from Kim but fails to complete it.  Kim lands a nice punch.  Kim goes for a takedown and gets it but Hwang is able to transition to his back and looks to sink in a rear-naked choke.  The submission is nearly under the chin but fails.  Hwang is now ground and pounding him looks close to ending it.  Hwang goes for another submission attempt but Kim is able to turn into him and gets top control from full guard.  Kim now trying to take him down against the fence.  Round ends.

Result: Young Jun Kim def. Young Jin Hwang via unanimous decision

Jun Gyo Kim vs Jong Ki An (Welterweight bout)

First Round.  Kim throws a flying knee.  Wild punching exchange from the start.  Kim drops An momentarily.  An clinches Kim up against the fence landing some nice body punches.  An charges Kim to the fence and gets the takedown.  An maintaining topside control.  An landing some punches from side control.  Kim scrambles and An smoothly transitions to his back.  An sinks in the rear-naked choke and gets the finish.

Result: Jong Ki An def. Jun Gyo Kim via R1 submission (rear-naked choke)

 Jun Young Hong vs Sang Won Kim (Featherweight bout) (Number 1 contender title shot fight)

First Round.  Hong with a nice counter left hand. Hong on the offensive with the combination. Kim eating punches.   Hong controlling the center.  Kim with a nice left hook. Hong lands a quick right hand.  Hong has Kim trapped against the cage and lands a nice 1-2.  Kim wobbles Hong with a nice right hand and flurries with furious combinations.  Kim takes Hong down against the fence.  Hong reverses with a nice takedown.  Back on the feet now and Hong landing some crazy boxing combinations.  They’re trading now.  This is a war.  Hong lands a head kick but is taken down because of it.  Kim takes his back but the round ends.  That was a back and forth war.  Round ends.

Kim being checked by the doctor before the round starts.  His right eye is swollen badly.  The fight is stopped.  Kim is in tears.

Result: Jun Young Hong def. Sang Won Kim via R1 Doctor Stoppage (eye injury)

Won Bin Ki vs Rae Yun Ock (Lightweight title fight)(Co-Main event)

First-round.  Ock lands a massive 1-2 and now they’re clinching against the fence.  Ki has Ock against the fence but Ock is landing some nice knees in the clinch.  Ock is landing some strong punches in the clinch.  Seems like is Ock is more effective in the clinch.  Ki is getting hit hard.  He’s eaten some bombs.  Ock is mixing it up upstairs and downstairs in the clinch.  Ki has Ock against the cage and landing some nice combinations. Ki mixing it in with the takedowns momentarily takes Ock down but Ock gets right back up.  Round ends

Second Round.  Leg kick from Ock knocks Ki off balance momentarily.  Punch flurry from Ki and backs Ock up against the fence.  Ki shoots a takedown and gets it but Ock powers his way back onto the feet.  Ock is landing some strong knees in the clinch.  The referee breaks up the clinch.  Ock lands a nice right hand.  They’re exchanging in the middle.  Ki backs Ock against the cage but gets reversed.  Short little punches from both men in the clinch.  Ki lands a nice right hand and attempts to take Ki down against the cage but gets reversed.  Ock lands a nice knee and punches at the end of the round.  Round ends.

Third Round.  Ock lands a nice right hand as Ki goes to land a leg kick.  Punch exchange in the middle as Ock is backed up against the fence.  Both missing quite a bit with the punches in the middle of the cage.  Ock lands a nice leg kick.  This is a battle of attrition.  Furious exchanges against the cage and in the clinch from both men.  Ock throws a flying knee and looks to be going for the finish with furious punches.  Rae Yun Ock is pushing hard.  Ock landing some nice leg kicks.  Ki forces Ock to the cage to stop the onslaught.  Round ends.

Result: Rae Yun Ock def. Won Bin Ki via unanimous decision – to become the new inaugural Double G FC lightweight champion.

Han Seul Kim vs Tae Ho Jin (Welterweight title fight)(Main event)

First-round.  Jin lands a nice inside leg kick.  Another inside leg kick by Jin.  Jin controlling the center of the cage and lands a front leg sidekick.  Kim is looking to counter him.  Jin lands a nice right hand.  Another right hand by Jin and an inside leg kick.  Briefly goes for a takedown but doesn’t get it.  Nice oblique kick from Jin.  Kim with a high kick and a nice counter left hand.  Kim countering better now and lands a nice 1-2 upstairs.  Han Seul Kim in a better groove now seemed a bit too cautious at the start.  Round ends.

Second round.  Kim counters with a nice left hand.  Jin goes for a takedown but Kim sprawls well and defends.  That counter left hand from Kim is money.  Kim wobbles Jin with a nice 1-2 hook.  Wild exchanges now.  Jin briefly wobbles Kim and pressuring him hard.  They clinch up against the fence.  Kim takes Jin down and takes his back.  The referee stands them up for inactivity.  They’re trading now.  Kim takes him down with a body lock.  Round ends.

Third round.  Kim lands with the left hand.  Jin landing nice leg kicks and a nice right hand.  Kim with a takedown but Jin locks up a tight guillotine.  Kim slips out of the guillotine.  That was close. The referee stands them up.  Jin pressuring hard against the cage landing knees. This is a war of attrition.  Kim falls to the ground going for a takedown.  He seems fatigued as Jin takes his back.  Jin has both body locks in with his legs and punching him from the ground.  Kim however turns into him and is now in top control from Jin’s guard.  Kim landing small punches from the top.  The referee stands them up again.  Kim clinches Jin to the cage.  Round ends.

Result: Tae Ho Jin def. Han Seul Kim via split decision – to become the new inaugural Double G FC welterweight champion.
