PFL 2 Results: World Tournament Continues With Exhilarating Night of Fights

PFL 2 for the 2025 PFL World Tournament is here. As will be the case for the entirety of the quarterfinal phase of the tournament, tonight’s card will originate from Stage 19 of Universal Orlando.

This week, bantamweights and women’s flyweight competitors take to the SmartCage for their quarterfinal contests. Live action begins tonight with the early card at 9 pm ET/ 6 pm PT on ESPN+ if you’re watching inside the United States. Late card action follows at 11 pm ET/ 8 pm PT on ESPN2 and ESPN+.

For those of you living in Canada, DAZN will carry the show live. All told, after another chaotic weigh-in window yesterday morning in Orlando, the final version of PFL 2 tonight will feature eight bouts from the tournament.

PFL 2 Main Event

At the top of the bill later on tonight, you’ll see a restructured headliner at 135 lbs. Originally slated to square off against Magomed Magomedov before being rebooked to fight Josh Rettinghouse, Leandro Higo (23-6 MMA) will begin his quest for this year’s bantamweight title when he takes on Marcirley Alves (12-4 MMA) in the main event of the evening

All fights tonight will be an advertised maximum of three rounds at five minutes per round.

PFL 2 Co-Main Event

Immediately beforehand, the co-headlining attraction of the evening sees action at 125 lbs when Liz Carmouche (22-8 MMA,) meets Ilara Joanne (12-9 MMA.)

Also tonight, you’ll see a bantamweight affair matching Francesco Nuzzi (10-1, 1 NC MMA) against Mando Gutierrez (10-3 MMA), as well as a bantamweight contest versing Kasum Kasumov (16-1 MMA) and Justin Wetzell (10-2 MMA.)

Main Event:  Marciley Alves def. Leandro Higo by Split Decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28.) Alves advances to fight Jake Hadley in semifinals. 

Co-Main Event: Liz Carmouche def. Ilara Joanne by KO (Body Shots to Ground and Pound) at 1:25 into Round 1. Carmouche advances to fight Elora Dana in semifinals. 

Mando Gutierrez def. Francesco Nuzzi by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 4:13 into Round 1.  Gutierrez advances to fight Justin Wetzell in semifinals.

 

Justin Wetzell def. Kasum Kasumov by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27.)

Featured Early Fight:  Ekaterina Shakalova def. Juliana Velasquez by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 2:05 into Round 1.  Shakalova advances to fight Jena Bishop in semifinals.

Co-Featured Early Fight: Jake Hadley def. Matheus Mattos by Submission (Scottish Twister) at 2:16 into Round 3.

 

Jena Bishop def. Kana Watanabe by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28.)
