The UFC Vegas 21 co-main event is over. Light heavyweights Misha Cirkunov and Ryan Spann are over and done with. It was a good fight and a stiff test for both men in determining rankings.  You can follow along with the UFC Vegas 21 results right here.

Ryan Spann Stops Misha Cirkunov in Round 1

Cirkonov opened the action fast, throwing punches and kicks in bunches. Spann looked to weather the early storm and landed a giant straight right hand that dropped the Canadian. After letting Cirkunov back to the feet he clipped him again with an overhand left to the temple. Spann immediately jumped on top of him, landed some clean ground and pound, which forced referee Mark Smith to call a stoppage to the action.

The official end to the fight happened at 1:11 of the first round.

This puts Spann back in the win column and to 19-6 overall. Cirkunov drops to 15-6 and is 2-4 in his last six fights.

Spann spoke with UFC commentator Daniel Cormier post-fight about his emotions, “We went through a lot of stuff to get to this fight. We were supposed to fight him back in December, he pulled and then some personal things happened in my life and made things a little more difficult. But hey, life happens, we here, we better, we stronger.”

As the number 13 ranked fighter, Spann feels he deserves a top 10 opponent next, “Absolutely, I want to be in the top 10 myself. When we scheduled this fight, he was ranked number 10 and some things happened over the course of the past few weeks and it pushed him back one. So to me, he was 10 and I was fighting for 10, so I want to say Jimmy Crute and Anthony Smith still fighting? Yeah, I’ll take the winner of that.”
