KSW is set for their first show of 2021 in which fans will be in attendance with KSW 61. In accordance with local guidelines, the Ergo Arena in Ludz, Poland, will be at 50% capacity. KSW 61: To Fight or Not To Fight is set to take place on Saturday, June 05, 2021, and can be seen worldwide on the KSW app or at KSWtv. With the main event announced during the KSW 60 broadcast, the rest of the card is starting to come together. Former featherweight champion, Salahdine Parnasse will make his return to action after dropping the featherweight crown.
Return of the Former Champion at KSW 61
After joining KSW and taking the featherweight division by storm, Parnasse won the interim featherweight champion against Roman Szymanski at KSW 48 in April 2019. After being promoted to the undisputed champion, Parnasse successfully defended the title against former Cage Warriors champion Ivan Buchinger at KSW 52. Unfortunately, Parnasse would lose the title to Daniel Torres at KSW 58 in January 2021. With just a couple of solid wins though, Parnasse could find himself in the driver’s seat at getting a rematch for the featherweight title. Only at 23-years-old, the dynamic French striker still has years of quality performance to give inside the cage.
Dangerous Opponent for Parnasse
Standing across from Parnasse will stand a dangerous Czech striker in the form of Filip Pejic (15-4-2.) Pejic is riding high from his last performance, coming into this contest on the heels of a 12-second knockout victory at KSW 56 in November 2020. Prior to the win, Pejic lost two bouts to common foes he shares with Parnasse, both Szymanski and Torres. Pejic lost both of those bouts including a knockout to Szymanski. The former Final Fight Championship featherweight champion scored an impressive head kick, which led to the KO/TKO finish of Filip Wolanski back at KSW 48 in April 2019.
So far, four bouts have been announced for the card. Aside from the main event and the Parnasse/Pejic bout, Tomasz Romanowski will battle Patrik Kincl in a welterweight battle. A light heavyweight showdown is also scheduled between Przemyslaw Mysiala and Ivan Erslan. Kincl has impressed thus far in KSW, winning his debut by first-round knockout. He is also on a four-fight winning streak. A win against a solid veteran like Romanowski could find Kincl in title talks.
