Anderson Silva vs. Paul brothers coming to a ring near you? Perhaps this style of event is the future of boxing. Now that former MMA star Anderson Silva showcased his skills this past week as he went headto-head with boxing superstar Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., he says that he is open to working with the Paul brothers in the future. When asked if a bout between the Paul brothers could potentially be the next on the lineup for Silva, he replied, “maybe.”

Silva Defeats Chavez Jr. at Tribute to the Kings

On June 19th, Silva made an impressive comeback in Mexico at the Tribute to the Kings boxing event against a world-class boxer, defeating him by split decision. It’s the first time Silva had competed in the sport in over 16 years, against an opponent more than a decade his junior. Impressive by all counts, and a spectacular sight to see for MMA fans as they had watched Silva flawlessly finesse opponent after opponent with his superior skills in the Octagon during his UFC heyday.

Silva Open to Working With Paul Brothers

Speaking with MMASucka before the Chavez Jr. bout, Silva said he’s open to fighting one of the Paul brothers.

Jeremy Brand asked Silva if a victory over Chavez Jr. would set up a fight with one of the Paul brothers. Silva responded, “Wow. We’ll see. I’m very excited. I’m preparing my mind,  preparing my body for doing my best and make successful in this sport, and showing my respect in this sport.”

Yes, those Paul brothers: former YouTubers turned boxers, Logan Paul and his little brother, Jake. Anderson Silva vs. Paul Brothers! It’s unclear if Silva would step into the ring against one of the brothers, but more likely that he would fight on the same card.

The Paul brothers aren’t exactly what you’d call world-class boxers nor do their boxing skills come close to matching those of Manny Pacquiao or Canelo Alvarez or other greats. The Paul brothers do, however, attract large crowds, have tons of fans, entertain the audience, and sell tickets.

Logan Paul recently went eight rounds in the ring against boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, Jr. (50-0) in early June. We’ll see little brother Jake take on UFC star Tyron Woodley on August 28. That says a lot about the potential the Paul brothers bring to the world of boxing – and to the athletes associated with the sport.

“I Respect Both”

Speaking to MMAJunkie after the Chavez Jr. victory, Silva responded to the question of working with the Paul brothers again, this time saying, “Wow – yes, absolutely. I respect both. I have a great relationship with both brothers, and yeah, I think this is possible, too. That’s entertaining. It’s a fight, but it’s entertaining. Logan and his brother are amazing guys. The people like to talk a lot about the guys, but they’re very good people. I respect both, and I respect the sport. I think everything is possible. I think the next fight may be with Logan Paul, maybe.”

Anderson Silva vs. Paul Brothers? Wait and See

Jake Paul congratulated Silva on his impressive fight via his Twitter account, stating,

Respect to Anderson Silva @spideranderson on the win… vc é uma lenda brasileira! Would be an honor to have him vs Roy Jones Jr on the same card as Tyron and I

When Logan got wind of Silva’s comments, he responded in a very indirect way via his Instagram account, stating, “Crazy how growing up my goal was to be like Anderson Silva.”

Fight fans hoped Logan or Jake would give a more definitive answer concerning an Anderson Silva vs. a Paul brother bout, but for now, it’s the only answer we’re getting. Stay tuned. We’re bound to see something exciting from Silva and the Paul brothers in the near future.
