Vitor Belfort will take on boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya on Saturday, September 11. And prior to that bout, ‘The Phenom’ has partnered with LITH Token to be paid in crypto.

Vitor Belfort: ‘Pay me in Crypto’

“Vitor Belfort is the ultimate choice to represent LITH Token,” said Andrew Rymer, founder of LITH Token. “He is South American and is very well known and respected there as a great athlete and as a great person, and with The Indigenous People’s Initiative meant to help those in Chile and Argentina impacted by lithium mining, Vitor Belfort can lead this Initiative better than anyone.”

“I have so much respect for LITH Token’s effort to help South Americans in need,” said Belfort. “When I was presented this opportunity with LITH Token, I talked to my family and my team, and we agreed this is a good position to help people and promote the change to energies that will protect our children’s future.”

In this agreement, Belfort is joining the growing number of professional athletes representing cryptocurrency companies and asking to be paid for it all in digital currency. The list includes NFL players Russell OkungTrevor LawrenceSaquon Barkley and Floyd Mayweather (who was later found in violation of the SEC for not disclosing a paid endorsement prior to publicizing the partnership).

Belfort is joining the effort to help those in South America impacted by lithium mining through the LITH Token Indigenous People’s Initiative.

“The conventional extraction methods of lithium in South America have greatly affected the environment of indigenous people,” said Rymer. “We aim to right these wrongs through the LITH Token Indigenous People’s Initiative (IPI), which will help provide indigenous people with the tools and education for better living in a new and cleaner environment.”

To fund this Indigenous People’s Initiative, LITH Token (IG: @lithtoken) has opened an IPI wallet, which is currently funded with 10 million tokens. Moving forward, all profit from LITH Token merchandise sales will be used for the purpose of funding the IPI wallet and allowing for continual donations, in addition to more fundraising measures under development. LITH Token will maintain 50 percent of the profits of merchandise sold in USD and 50 percent through LITH token buy backs. This approach allows LITH Token to have stable tokens on hand for short-term charitable goals, and LITH tokens that can grow in value for long term goals.

Belfort (1-0 boxing) has had one professional boxing bout and that came in 2006. The Brazilian earned a first-round knockout against Josemario Neves in Brazil. Belfort has not competed in combat sports since his 2018 knockout loss to Lyoto Machida at UFC 224.

Belfort will proudly feature a LITH logo on his boxing shorts in his fight against de la Hoya. Tune in to watch the fight via the digital app FITE here: https://www.fite.tv/watch/oscar-de-la-hoya-vs-vitor-belfort/2p9su/

LITH Token merchandise is available through the official LITH website at www.LITHtoken.io; ALL proceeds from merchandise sales will benefit the Indigenous People’s Initiative.

Also featured on the Belfort vs. De La Hoya card is a bout between two pioneers of MMA, Anderson Silva and Tito Ortiz.
