Battlefield Fight League bantamweight champion Serhiy Sidey will put his title on the line for a second time at BFL 72 against the number three ranked BFL 135-pounder Austin Russell.
The promotion announced the championship fight on Tuesday via their official Instagram page.
Serhiy Sidey vs. Austin Russell set for BFL 72
Sidey (6-1) was 4-1 before fighting for the British Columbia promotion at BFL 68 in September of 2021. He won the title against Gerico Platon in his promotional debut and followed up with an impressive fourth-round TKO finish against Ali Wasuk at BFL 70 in December of this past year. This will be Sidey’s first fight of 2022.
Russell (3-0) made his professional debut in 2019 when he won a split decision against Seth Connor at Modern FC 4. Following that victory, he signed with Battlefield and made his first appearance in 2021. At BFL 69, Russell earned a first-round submission victory against Indroop Virk. He followed that up with his sophomore appearance at BFL 70 where he earned a majority decision against Platon.
BFL 72 will go down on April 28, 2022, at the Harbour Convention Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia.
