It looks like Thiago Alves may be defending his BKFC championship against fellow UFC alumni, Mike Perry

Alves’ manager – Ali Abdelaziz has informed MMA Junkie that his client is looking to make his in-ring debut during the summer and wants to defend his BKFC Middleweight Championship against Perry, who made his debut in the co-main event of BKFC: KnuckleMania 2.

Thiago Alves Wants Mike Perry for Next Title Defense

In Abdelaziz’s words, a clash between these two fighters should be very interesting for fans and provide an explosive fight. Alves himself stated that he wants to fight Perry as soon as he rests up and heals from his successful title defense against Ulysses Diaz.

Alves has an unblemished 2 – 0 bare-knuckle record with wins over Julian Lane and the aforementioned Diaz. What’s interesting is that he and Perry were scheduled to fight at UFC Fight Night 116, but the bout was canceled.

“Platinum” made his BKFC debut at KnuckleMania 2, taking on the aforementioned Lane. The hype for the matchup was generated by the two fighters brawling at BKFC Fight Night: Tampa in December 2021. Finally, the pair of brawlers met in the BKFC ring with Perry ultimately  winning by unanimous decision. It was his second outing in boxing competition, as he took on Michael Seals at the premiere edition of Triller’s Triad Combat in November 2021. The fight itself took place inside of a triangular ring under the hybrid rules that mixed elements of boxing and standing aspects of MMA. Perry won the bout by split decision.

Though no official announcement has been made, it is highly possible that both fighters will meet in the summer, and Alves will get his wish of defending the championship gold against Perry.
