Combate Global returns for its eighth event of the year as it hosts Combate Global 38 at Cisneros Studios in Miami, Florida. MMA Sucka brings you live coverage of this event and many more.
In the main event, Combate Global bantamweight tournament champion David Martinez (6-1) takes on rising star Arturo Vergara (2-0). Martinez makes his seventh walk to “La Jaula” coming off a TKO win over UFC veteran Francisco Rivera Jr., which capped off his third victory in one night as he took home the Combate Global bantamweight tournament last May. Known striker Martinez does his training at Animal Motion Fitness and has previously spent some time at American Top Team. The Mexican-born knockout artist has scored five of his six wins in that fashion and has only been to the judges’ scorecards twice in his career. It will be a battle of stand-up artists as he meets Vergara Sunday night.
Chile’s Vergara is an electric striker from Los Angeles, California by way of Miami, Florida. The 27-year-old does his training at the Goat Shed and is a Muay Thai specialist. He earned a nine-second flying knee knockout in his last bout at Titan FC 76. Vergara’s style is a real pleasure to watch as he has scored two highlight-reel KOs in his two pro career bouts. He brings relentless pressure with high-level striking and is a threat to end his opponent’s night in every striking exchange. Overall, this is an awesome battle at bantamweight in tonight’s main event.

In tonight’s atomweight co-headliner, Marina Sanchez (0-0) takes on Jade Jorand (0-2). Spain’s Sanchez makes her pro debut tonight after a quality amateur career. She does her training at Ares Arena Gym just outside of Barcelona, Spain. Sanchez specializes in striking, specifically Muay Thai, and has quite the gas tank if she needs it. Outside of MMA, she has partaken in Muay Thai bouts and has had her fair share of success. Tonight, she’ll test her skills against a fellow striker in Jade Jorand.
Jorand is a veteran of two pro MMA bouts, one with Bellator, along with a kickboxing bout with Bellator. In those three bouts, she has yet to see a third round, let alone the judges’ scorecards. Jorand is a world kickboxing champion and European Thai boxing champion. She made her pro-MMA debut at Bellator 247. The native of France did her training at several gyms including a Kings MMA leading up to this bout. As our co-main event provides a similar stylistic matchup as our main event, expect fireworks all night.
Also on the card are Sanford MMA’s Chris Boasso (3-2), former Combate Global bantamweight tournament contestant Alan Cantu Garcia (9-8), and Freedom Fighters-trained Justin Vazquez (7-2).
