Adriano Moraes vs. Demetrious Johnson II Confirmed For ONE 161
The greatest flyweight of all time made his splash in ONE Championship by winning the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix but came up short in his title bid when Moraes utilized a brilliantly grounded knee for the knockout victory.
Johnson will be prepared for that tactic in the rematch as he gets his next shot at the coveted gold belt.
Since the initial meeting at ONE on TNT I, Moraes has defended his gold against Yuya Wakamatsu, and Johnson toppled Rodtang Jitmuangnon in a special rules superfight at ONE X.
The performances set the stage for the highly-anticipated rematch.
Moraes has been a staple in ONE’s flyweight division, and the win over Johnson was his crowning achievement to gain the respect he rightfully deserved for years prior. Now he is tasked with affirming that victory and stopping Johnson from becoming a World Champion again.
The organization confirmed the event will be broadcast live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium. ONE also announced that it would be broadcast in U.S. primetime on Friday, August 26.
The summer may be winding down when Moraes and Johnson step foot inside the Circle once more, but the temperature inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium will still be scorching hot for the ONE Flyweight World Championship main event.
Follow along as more updates on ONE 161 will be announced in the near future.
