Oktagon 41 is officially less than one week away and it also sees the return of the “Terminator” himself, Karlos Vemola. Vemola is a man who can guarantee fireworks and controlled violence when he fights this weekend, causing any audience to erupt with excitement after his previous bout with current champion Patrik Kincl fell through.
Though despite his clear high status in the promotion and being one of the top stars that you can find in Europe, the sacrifice Vemola has made makes him even more of an inspiration or fan favorite after last year battling a terrible illness that led doctors to say his career was ultimately over.
This was at a time when fans were giving Vemola an incredible amount of hate online for pulling out of the fight, but even then Vemola remained incredibly confident in bouncing back and now has the chance to do so when he faces Dana White’s Contender Series and LFA veteran Al Matavao, who is currently 10-5 and has finished his last 2 opponents in devastating fashion.
Vemola was admitted to the hospital in late to early December due to a large amount of inflammation in his body which ended up affecting the left side of his body massively and as mentioned almost putting a stop to his career.
The Exciting Life of Karlos Vemola
Owning lions, crocodiles, and sharks – there is something exciting that Vemola brings to the table, from his time in the UFC where he earned a Knockout of the Night over Seth Petruzelli at UFC 122 to when he made his MMA debut and instantly won a heavyweight title which he defended five times.
During his career fans have seen Vemola fight on the UK Regional scene, wrestle for his country, join the UFC, and then eventually lead up to where he is now: inside Oktagon, where he served as the main event in just his second fight with the promotion and has only lost once in ten fights.
This paired with his ability to have fans upon their feet goes to show that he is just as fun outside the cage as he is inside. Fans can catch Vemola back in action this upcoming weekend, where a win sees him move into his next scheduled bout and a rematch fans have been waiting for against Patrik Kincl at Oktagon 43 next month.
