Nate Diaz – The Underdog Once Again

August 5th will see Jake Paul and Nate Diaz take each other on in a boxing bout, and once again, the UFC legend will find himself as the big underdog. It is a position that Diaz has found himself in on many occasions in his MMA career, and where he seems to thrive.

Diaz Shocks McGregor

When it comes to Nate Diaz overcoming the odds, there is no better example than when he shocked the world against Conor McGregor. Much like the Jake Paul vs Diaz betting odds where he is priced at +250, the California native was the complete outsider against McGregor, with Diaz taking up the fight with just eleven days’ notice.

Given this, McGregor was a strong favorite for the UFC 196 bout, much like Jake Paul will be with the likes of Paddy Power boxing on August 5th in Dallas, Texas as he is currently priced at -300. Diaz had been around the block many times, however, and used all of his nouse and neverending will to win to shock the world of mixed martial arts.

As he would in the majority of his matches, Diaz took a beating in the early part of the fight, but he was again proved that he has one of the strongest chins in the business, and battled back to win by submission in Round 2.

Why Is Paul The Strong Favorite?

Simply put, Jake Paul is such a strong favorite for his war with Diaz because of his boxing experience. The two men could hardly be more different in their fighting styles, and indeed, in their lives. Paul, a social media influencer who has had quite an impressive boxing career to date, is on somewhat of a redemption mission, with the 26-year-old having tasted defeat for the first time against Tommy Fury last time, as covered by the BBC.

Prior to that, Paul had actually shown some decent technical boxing skills, but, despite knocking his opponent down during the match, Fury proved too strong in the end. If Paul were to go down to an MMA star with little boxing experience, then the dream of reaching the top table of the sport will be in tatters.

If, as most people predict, Paul can handle the wild swinging style of Diaz and come out on top, he will have garnered more respect in the sport, something he has yet to do thanks to his outspokenness and over-the-top antics, as per Fox News.

Paul or Diaz, Who Wins?

As stated, both men could hardly be more different in their styles. Diaz has one of the strongest chins in all of the combat sports and seems to like to get his blood rushing by getting some heavy knocks in the early stages of his fights.

Stamina and sheer toughness are his key attributes, and he does pack a mean punch which could give Paul plenty of problems if he can make them land.

Paul, on the other hand, likes to think of himself as a technical boxer, but he also has a heavy right hand that has caused his opponents some trouble, most notably when dropping Tommy Fury in their battle earlier in the year.

Paul should win, but he will have his hands full with the marauding MMA veteran.
