KSW 59 Main Event Reportedly Announced

KSW 59 is set to take place on March 20, 2021, in Poland. KSW has previously announced the bantamweight title fight between Antun Racic vs Sebastian Przybysz as the co-main event for KSW 59, but no main event was announced. We know now who veteran Mariusz Pudzianowski will face, and it will be a “massive” showdown with a massive opponent.

Senegal Wrestling Legend Set to Challenge Pudz at KSW 59

Serigne Ousmane Dia (2-0), known fondly to fans as either “Bombardier” or “B52″, will make his KSW debut after winning two regional MMA bouts in his native Senegal. What he may lack in MMA experience, Dia greatly makes up for in Senegalese Wrestling. He is considered one of the top-tier greatest to ever compete in the sport. Standing at 6’6” and weighing nearly 330lbs, this could open the door for the highly-spoken of “open-weight” division, which would be a welcoming home to the highly-anticipated Martyn Ford, who is set to debut in MMA this year.

Dia grew up fishing on the seas in his native Senegal. Many of the fighters organized wrestling bouts in which Dia took part. Dia’s skills were noticed and he eventually moved to a more conventional setting to wrestle. He would go on to win the “King of the Arena” twice which goes to the country’s top wrestler. In 2015 Dia transitioned from wrestling and entered the world of MMA.

So far he has looked destructive, finishing both of his opponents by knockout. Dia looks to have a highly-aggressive, push the pace, kind of approach. He is not afraid to go to the mat, and once there he unloads heavy strikes. It will be interesting though to see how this works against someone as strong as and as seasoned as Pudz.

Pudzianowski Set with a Massive Test

Though he will have nearly 20 more MMA bouts under his belt than his opponent, Pudz will face a man with a size advantage. This is something the former World’s Strongest Man winner is not accustomed to. The 37-year-old Polish strongman took 2020 off, but he was victorious in his most recent bout against Erko Jun at KSW 51 in November 2019. More than likely, Pudz will want to tire out the big man and utilize his striking advantage. Going to the ground will not be beneficial as Pudz is not accustomed to working on the mat as the “smaller man.” KSW 59 can be seen live worldwide on the KSW app or KSWtv on Saturday, March 20, 2021.
