Aleksei Oleinik and Chris Daukaus – UFC Vegas 19 Preview

Aleksei Oleinik and Chris Daukhaus will face off at UFC Vegas 19. The event will be headlined by heavyweight contenders Derrick Lewis and Curtis Blaydes. Also on the main card, veteran, Aleksei Oleinik will be taking on Chris Daukaus. Oleinik will be fighting to prove he still has gas left in the tank. While Daukaus will be looking to take out one of the sport’s most respected grapplers.

Aleksei Oleinik

Aleksei Oleinik has a fourth-degree black belt in jiujitsu and is an international master of sports in combat sambo. He has 74 professional MMA fights starting his professional career in 1996. When Oleinik made his professional debut, his opponent was just seven years old. Oleinik has finished 54 of his 59 career wins with 46 of those finishes coming by way of submission. He went 2-1 in 2020 with his most recent fight being a TKO loss to Derrick Lewis in August. Oleinik only has 13 fights in the UFC with a combined record of 8-5. In that stretch, he has wins over Fabricio Werdum, Mark Hunt, and Travis Browne. 

Chris Daukaus

Chris Daukaus will be coming into this fight with a one-inch height advantage but he will have a five-inch reach disadvantage. He holds a professional record of 10-3 and is 2-0 inside the UFC octagon. In the UFC he has two knockout victories over Parker Porter and Rodrigo Nascimento. Daukaus has nine of his ten wins via TKO or knockout. He has also been finished in all three of his losses. Two of them being TKO losses and the other being a submission loss.

The Matchup

This will be the classic veteran versus newcomer matchup. Daukaus looking to show the UFC that he can hang with the top 15 of the heavyweight division. While Oleinik looking to prove that he still has what it takes to make another run at the title. This matchup will also be the classic striker versus grappler matchup. Oleinik has great jiujitsu so he should be looking to get the fight to the ground as soon as he can. Daukaus on the other hand has great striking. He should be looking to stay on the outside and pick his shots.
