Amanda Lemos vs Jessica Andrade – UFC Vegas 52 Preview

Amanda Lemos is riding a wave of momentum as she looks to welcome former strawweight champion Jessica Andrade back to the division in a bout that is sure to bring as much excitement and explosion to the division in the upper echelon of the division’s contenders.

Amanda Lemos is coming off a strong 2021 as she won all three of her showings to bring her win streak to five as she has climbed the contender ladder as a true threat in the 115 lbs division. Lemos defeated Livinha Souza last March at UFC 259 in dominating fashion, then proceeded to strike the lights out on Montserrat Conejo in July, and capped it off with a competitive win against Angela Hill in December.

Those wins put Lemos in the top 10 of the division and put everyone on notice that she can go at it with the best of them. With this one there is little reason to believe she will be denied a title shot in the near future.

Jessica Andrade is returning to the division she found success in. Her last two appearances in the division were back-to-back losses to former champion Weili Zhang and current strawweight champion Rose Namajunas, which led to her moving up to flyweight. Upon her arrival, she defeated former title contender Katlyn Chookagian, and she positioned herself as a top flyweight.

After that huge win, Andrade came across flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 261, which resulted in a pretty one-sided loss for Andrade. Luckily the Brazilian bounced back with a win against Cynthia Calvillo at UFC 266 in a first-round finish.

Andrade’s decision to return to the strawweight division stems from her believing she can take advantage of her size and talents to make another run for the title and perhaps get a trilogy fight against Namajunas.

If Andrade continues to have strong showings as she had at flyweight, there is no reason she won’t be knocking on the champ’s door.
