UFC Fight Pass Invitational 3 Results

The UFC Fight Pass Invitational is set to return for a third time on Thursday night, and MMASucka has you covered with up-to-the-minute results.

The invitational’s third incarnation will differ from the team-based format seen at the previous two events. The show will revolve around a men’s and women’s superfight, as well as a loaded eight-man absolute tournament featuring a number of recent ADCC veterans.

Fight fans can stream UFC Fight Pass Invitational 3 on UFC Fight Pass beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.

Men’s and Women’s Superfights

Gordon Ryan‘s quest to avenge every loss of his black belt career will have to wait. Ryan was originally scheduled to take on Brazil’s Vinny Magalhaes in a heavyweight superfight, but Magalhaes was forced out on the eve of the event due to a medical issue.

“Unfortunately Vinny is out due to some medical issues,” Ryan said on Instagram. “Hopefully he heals up. The replacement for him will be [Nick Rodriguez] versus myself in the headliner. That’s tomorrow night only on UFC Fight Pass at the Fight Pass Invitational.”

Ryan will instead be taking former Danaher Death Squad teammate Rodriguez. “Nicky Rod,” who won the Eddie Bravo Invitational back in October, is looking to avenge a submission defeat at the hands of Ryan in the men’s +99kg division at ADCC 2022 in Sept. 2022.

In addition to Ryan being in action, former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate is also scheduled to compete against 2017 ADCC champion Bia Mesquita. Daniel Manasoiu, a standout at UFC Fight Pass Invitational 2, will round out fights independent from the absolute tournament when he takes on Ricardo Evangelista.

Absolute Tournament

The absolute tournament, an openweight one-night tournament format, will be contested between eight men with a $25,000 grand prize awaiting the winner. UFC Fight Pass released the bracket on its Instagram page earlier this month.

The tournament is abound with fun matchups from the onset. Patrick Gaudio will first square off with Haisam Rida, a 2022 ADCC competitor who submitted Cyborg Abreu with an armbar in the opening round of this year’s ADCC World Championships. Gaudio, himself, gave Ryan a run for his money at the 2018 IBJJF No-Gi Worlds and will now match-up against a man coming off a loss to Luke Griffith, Rodriguez’ replacement in the tournament. Griffith is set to go toe-to-toe with 10th Planet’s Andy Varela, who competed in the absolute division at this year’s world championships.

Teenage sensation Pat Shahgholi will make his much anticipated return to UFC Fight Pass after stealing the show at EBI 20 back in the fall. He is slated for a matchup with longtime Submission Underground champion Mason Fowler. Fowler will look to steer clear of Shahgholi’s leg locks, which have been used to devastating consequences for his opponents as of late. A bout between Richie Martinez and Oliver Taza will round out the four-match opening round slate. “Boogeyman” will be looking to neutralize a leg lock specialist in his own right, and is looking for his first grappling victory since submitting Don Stoner with a Japanese Necktie at Submission Underground 23.
