This site is blessed with some good writers (I’m not one of them) who are usually pretty good at predicting fights. Nostradamus holds nothing on the MMASucka crew; well actually hang on, we’ll see on December 21, 2011 - that whole end of the world thing. Boy wouldn’t we look like a bunch of retards if the Mayans and Nostradamus were right.
It's five weeks out from my rematch with Jer Kornelson. I finally got the chance to watch our first fight. Cognitive dissonance had me believe that the fight was a back and fourth battle, when in reality it was a sloppy sub par grappling match. My sub attempts were not set up and I gassed hard.
Well, that was fun while it lasted. There will be no professional mixed martial arts in Vancouver for a while. The way professional MMA has been treated in Vancouver and with the city’s civic election on Nov. 19, the following should give sports fans in Vancouver something to chew on. [...]
For those who know me, you will know that part of my everyday work involves representing one of the longest running MMA Brands in existence – Punishment Athletics . With it’s recent resurgence I thought that it would make a great story to talk about Brands started by athletes, their differences and why it works for some but not others.
Okay, it’s time to throw down. No not for real. I’d love another opportunity to train and fight again. I thought the whole experience was eye opening. But alas, that won’t happen. I’m 33 and I like Nachos and beer too much. However I have decided to go back to BJJ at West Coast BJJ/MMA. I highly recommend checking them out if you are in the Vancouver/Lower Mainland area. I don’t want to become that stereotypical fat guy who covers the sport. Sorry but there are a few. You know who you are. #Just Saying? [...]
MMASucka columnist N.King had the opportunity to catch up with President and Co-founder of Round 5 MMA, Damon Lau. Damon goes over what he did prior to Round 5, what ever happened to the "World of MMA" series, and what his most difficult figure was to make. Keep it locked in the next few days for a contest announcement that MMASucka.com and Round 5 will be bringing you.
Training for the biggest fight of your career is mentally taxing enough and for Jorge Masvidal he now has to wonder if the fight is even going to take place. As UFC President Dana White stated during a media scrum after the UFC On Versus 6 event this past Sunday, the UFC is in hot pursuit of Strikeforce Lightweight Gilbert Melendez and want him in the UFC ASAP.
I promised controversy with my articles, but this one will waver on the side of surprising rather than controversial. For those of you who know my business and what I do for a living you may be surprised by my view on this topic. Don’t think that this is me supporting the Zuffa Sponsorship Fees, simply taking a business standpoint of the new costs involved in sponsorships in the UFC and now Strikeforce as well.
Not many people would endure what I've endured for this dream. I am penniless, almost homeless, lost my fiancé, losing my dog, starving and injured. Nothing will keep me from my dream. What are you willing to do? – “Ragin” Kajan Johnson (Facebook Status)
Sometimes the best birthday presents are the ones you can give yourself. For Yves Edwards, he celebrated his 35th birthday in style as he defeated Rafaello Oliveira via TKO in Round 2.
Following his victory, Edwards talks to MMASucka.com about the victory, celebrating his birthday, his 10 year anniversary in MMA, whether he views himself as a pioneer, and if retirement had crept into his mind if he didn't emerge victorious in this fight.
