Fury Fighting Championship is set to return after an exciting Mother’s Day show in Texas. Fury FC will be moving shop up to Castle Rock, Colorado, for another Sunday evening card. The show will be headlined by a fight between American welterweights Austin Jones and Armus Guyton. Fight fans can catch the prelims beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET/12:30 PT on the Fury FC Facebook page, while the seven-fight main card can be found on UFC Fight Pass beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. PT. The card is currently set to feature 14 fights.
Fury FC 62 Headlines Welterweight Scrap between Austin Jones and Armus Guyton
Jones (11-7) and Guyton (6-2) will be sure to produce fireworks in Sunday’s main event, with both fighters having a pension for violence. Jones’s pro record is slightly deceiving in that he endured a three-fight skid in 2016 and ended up losing four of the first seven fights of his career. Since then, he is 8-3 and already has a win inside the Fury FC cage under his belt when he defeated Montrel James at Fury FC 53: Lookin’ for a Fight by way of first round ground and pound. The 32-year-old trains out of factoryX Muay Thai under Head Coach Marc Montoya and is still making improvements in the cage even though 32 is a typically prime age for many fighters.
Guyton will surely bring the fight to Jones. The 26-year-old Jackson Wink MMA prospect is a kill-or-be-killed fighter, having seen the judges’ scorecards just once in his young career thus far. All six of his wins have come by way of finish, four by knockout and two by submission. Five of those finishes came in the first round, one of which came by way of triangle choke against Pete Keepers in Iowa last summer. Guyton is 1-2 when fights get extended past the first round, so the storyline will be whether or not Guyton is able to dispatch Jones in short order. If he cannot, Guyton could have to overcome some adversity to take home his seventh win, as “Osmosis” Jones holds a 4-1 record post-2016 when fights go to decision.
The Co-Main Event
The second fight from the top will feature a pit 12-win lightweights against one another when Andrew Yates takes on Nick Compton. The 31-year-old Yates (12-3) is a six-fight veteran of Golden Fights, but most recently fought on a JacksonWink Fight Night card when he defeated Sherwin Price via split decision. Sunday’s fight will be Yates’ first in almost three years to the date. He is a wrestler by nature, having wrestled at Otero Junior College in his home state of Colorado, though he is currently training under the legendary Wanderlei Silva at Wand Fight Team.
“The Golden Boy” will put his pressure fighting style to the test against Compton (12-10), who has notably taken fights across MMA and boxing. Most have his fights have come in boxing as of late, having recently fought Evan Holyfield, son of legendary heavyweight Evander Holyfield. New and improved hands aside, Compton fell to Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady in his Fury FC debut back in February and will be looking to erase a six-fight skid in MMA after starting his career 12-4, similarly to his opponent on Sunday.

While last week’s event featured a preliminary card chock full of amateur fights, this Sunday’s card will feature just two on the whole show. This week’s card contains several fighters with less than five fights on their record, all of which are jockeying for position amid the regional ranks. Jason Mullen, a 4-2 factoryX fighter will take on 8-4 Matt Jones at featherweight. Jones notably owns a split decision victory over UFC veteran Youssef Zalal. Elsewhere, 7-5 Adam Martinez will look to snap a three-fight skid against 3-5 Leonard Carvalho in the main-card opener.
