GLORY 81: Ben Saddik vs. Adegbuyi 2 Preview and Weigh-In Results

At GLORY 81 Benjamin Adegbuyi will be looking to avenge his loss to Jamal Ben Saddik and put himself next in line for a heavyweight title shot. The co-main event will have the GLORY Middleweight title on the line between Donovan Wisse and Juri De Sousa. This kickboxing event will be broadcast on August 20. Also, below are the GLORY 81 Weigh-In Results.

Jamal Ben Saddik vs. Benjamin Adegbuyi II

The Main event of GLORY 81 will see Adegbuyi looking to get revenge for his knockout loss to Ben Saddik. These two fighters initially met in the final match of the GLORY Heavyweight Grand Prix in 2018. The towering Moroccan-Belgian walked away with a first-round stoppage victory. Whoever wins the main event at GLORY 81 will face Antonio Plazibat later this year on GLORY Collision 4 on October 8.

‘Benny’ Adegbuyi sat down with Tim Wheaton of VechtSport to discuss the match. “It’s one fight I really wanted and now we are here. It’s one very important fight for me… In the fight, I want to not be one hundred percent, but one hundred and ten percent … The Plazibat fight is the fight I really wanted before Jamal. I’m the better fighter, I want to show that I’m the better fighter. I’m happy if I stop Jamal then I face Plazibat.” Adegbuyi said, “When Plazibat comes I will show him that I’m the better fighter.” Adegbuyi had lost to Plazibat in 2021 and wanted an instant rematch to avenge this loss. With a win at GLORY 81, he will get his chance.

Donovan Wisse vs. Juri De Sousa

The GLORY Middleweight Champion will be looking to add a title defense to his record in the co-main event of GLORY 81. The reigning champion, of Surinam, Wisse won the vacant title in late 2021 and this will be the fighter’s first defense. He is currently on a five-fight win streak and merely has a single career loss from 2018. The Portuguese Juri De Sousa will be looking to add GLORY gold to his record when he faces Wisse on August 20. He has a professional kickboxing record of 43-6-1.

In an interview with GLORY, De Sousa explained how much this title shot means to him. “This is a huge dream for me,” He said, “But when I saw the contract, I knew this was not a dream. This is life. I immediately signed the contract because I’m ready. Let’s go!”

Stoyan Koprivlenski vs. Guerric Billet

Stoyan Koprivlenski vs Guerric Billet will be a title eliminator at lightweight. At GLORY Collision 4, the winner of this match will be booked against the reigning GLORY Lightweight World champion Tyjani Beztati. Koprivlenski already has fought Beztati twice before and their series is tied 1-1. Both of these fighters are on impressive win streaks and it is expected to be a highly exciting matchup.

“I’m back because I’m already hungry for the next,” The titleholder Beztati commented on the matchup in an interview with MMA Sucka. “To be honest you know they’re two different fighters. I fought Stoyan twice, the first time I lost and the second time I won my fight, I did it in a fashionable way, you know I gave him actually a kickboxing clinic.”

Sergej Maslobojev vs Luis Tavares – Cancelled

For the vacant GLORY Light Heavyweight Championship Sergej Maslobojev and Luis Tavares were booked for this event. However, this fight was canceled due to Tavares testing positive for a banned substance.
