Arman Tsarukyan talks grueling first week of training camp in mountains for Mauricio Ruffy UFC 331 fight

Arman Tsarukyan has provided fight fans with a glimpse of his lavish lifestyle juxtaposed with the hardships of training camp for his upcoming MMA fight.

Arman Tsarukyan has lately been making appearances in multiple combat sports and entrepreneurial endeavors, including the sports of submission grappling and freestyle wrestling. He's even set to compete in yet another freestyle wrestling match under the Real American Freestyle) RAF wrestling banner. Tsarukyan will face BJJ extraordinaire Dillon Danis for the inaugural RAF middleweight crossover title at RAF 14 on October 3. 

That said, the UFC lightweight elite is all set to make his MMA return for the first time this year, as he'll compete at UFC 331. 

In a video posted to his official YouTube channel, Tsarukyan featured some of the key happenings from his personal and professional lives as of late. It entailed a look at his oft-discussed luxurious lifestyle. Prominently, he shed light on how the first week of training in his MMA fight camp is challenging and exhausting. 

Tsarukyan, appearing to adopt an optimistic approach to the ensuing weeks of camp, stated:

"I feel great; a little bit tired because this is the first week from my camp, and here it's so difficult to train. Because we're in the mountains, and it's too high. And yeah, first week is a little bit hard, but from next week it's going to be way easier. Today was a pretty fun day." 

The Armenian "Batman" noted that he was going to have some fish, which he caught the previous day. Alluding to his training camp at the Tsaghkadzor Olympic Sports Complex in Armenia, he said, "We are in Armenia; middle of nowhere. This is the Olympic training center." 

The 29-year-old indicated that his friend trains at the high-altitude facility and encouraged him to do the same. He added, "Food is great. Weather is great. And the facility as well."

Arman Tsarukyan's winning run; imminent lightweight title eliminator with Mauricio Ruffy at UFC 331

Arman Tsarukyan last tasted defeat in a closely contested clash against Mateusz Gamrot, by way of unanimous decision, back in 2022. He's been unbeaten inside the Octagon since, racking up five consecutive victories. 

He bested Damir Ismagulov via unanimous decision back in late 2022, which was followed by his TKO finish over Joaquim Silva and a KO of Beneil Dariush, both in 2023. Moreover, Tsarukyan edged out former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira via split decision at UFC 300 the following year. 

Tsarukyan's fifth, and most recent, match of his current winning streak witnessed him submit fan-favorite lightweight contender Dan Hooker last November. 

On the other hand, his next opponent, Brazil's Mauricio Ruffy, is coming off TKO victories against Rafael Fiziev and Michael Chandler this year. The Fiziev match marked his comeback from a submission loss at the hands of Benoit Saint Denis last year. 

Furthermore, Ruffy's latest fight was his striking clinic against ex-Bellator lightweight champion Chandler at UFC Freedom 250 in June.

Presently, Tsarukyan is booked to take on Ruffy in a five-round lightweight showdown, which could determine the next challenger for the UFC lightweight belt, which Justin Gaethje possesses as of now. The Tsarukyan-Ruffy fight co-headlines UFC 331 in Los Angeles on September 19.
