Carlos Prates Details why He Will be Nightmare for Islam Makhachev

Carlos Prates claims that he has found loopholes in Islam Makhachev’s fighting style.
Carlos Prates has been in the news for the last few days. Since Islam Makhachev has won his fight against Ian Garry, Prates has been making his case to get a shot at welterweight gold. Now, in a recent statement, the Brazilian star has detailed why he will be a stylistic nightmare for Makahchev.
Carlos Prates Found Enough Loopholes in Islam Makhachev’s Fighting
Makhachev has been widely touted as a technically sound fighter. But per Prates, there are a lot of slip-ups that can be heavily capitalized. During a recent statement, the Brazilian UFC star detailed how he had spotted ways to break into the Dagestani’s game. Prates analyzed how he could easily stop his takedowns and also was confident about having a superior striking.
‘The Nightmare’ said, “On wrestling entries, I saw how I can defend some things and how to stop certain takedowns. I saw some parts of his defense. He has good kickboxing, brother, but of course I'm way better. That's why I'm excited to test myself against him."
This is not the first time Prates has commented about Makhachev’s fighting. In fact, he has also criticized the welterweight champion’s ability to wrestle.
Carlos Prates Labeled Islam Makhachev as ‘Boring’
There’s no telling how badly Prates wants to have his title shot at the moment. Amping things further, he has been oozing confidence about his chances of having the upper hand on the current champion. Sitting down in a virtual interaction with Ariel Helwani, ‘The Nightmare’ admitted that he did not enjoy watching Makhachev’s bouts.
“I think is boring. I don't like watching fights at all... but especially if there's a grappler fighting. It's crazy because now I really like training grappling more than striking, but I don't like watching grappling or fighters going to the ground. It's a boring fight. I don't like it,” Prates stated.
As of now, it does look like the Brazilian is next in line. If he does get that shot, it remains to be seen whether he will be able to prove his words.
