Sean O'Malley mocks Ian Machado Garry's friendless with Instagram clip

Sean O'Malley just released an Instagram clip poking fun at Ian Machado Garry's overly respectful conduct in the cage with Islam Makahchev at UFC 330.
Sean O'Malley, like many, took notice of Ian Machado Garry's overly friendly behavior with Islam Makhachev at UFC 330. After the end of every round in their bout, Garry made it a point to embrace Makhachev. While many found Garry's behavior forced, O'Malley has opted to make fun of 'The Future' with a recent Instagram post.
Sean O'Malley taunts Ian Machado Garry on social media
The aftermath of UFC 330 yielded several conversations about its main eventers. Islam Makhachev, in the wake of a hard-fought unanimous win over Ian Machado Garry, spoke about needing to add more size to find easier success in his future welterweight title defenses. However, a more prominent talking point has been Garry's persistent friendliness toward Makahchev during the fight itself, with 'The Future' embracing or patting his opponent on the head or shoulder after every round. Many found it awkward, and Sean O'Malley has since made it the subject of a recent Instagram video where he mimics Garry's behavior with a training dummy.
Even Makhachev, Garry's opponent, was perplexed by the Irishman's friendliness, claiming, at the UFC 330 post-fight press conference, that Garry showed him too much respect. These sentiments were also echoed by UFC CEO Dana White at the same press conference. Specifically, White opined that Garry lacked the killer instinct, not the skill, needed to beat Makhachev. Garry was also highly respectful of Makhachev prior to the bout at the pre-fight press conference, singing his praises as the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world. Regardless of the discourse that emerged following his loss and first crack at a UFC belt, Garry remains unbothered.
He shared his own Instagram clip after the loss and seemed to be in high spirits. He was proud of both himself and his team for preparing him as well as they did, while also congratulating Makahchev and Makahchev's team for their efforts. As far as O'Malley's own championship pursuits are concerned, he is currently on a two-fight win streak, with his most recent win being a two-round TKO of Aiemann Zahabi at UFC Freedom 250, though there's still no news on his next step as he looks to reclaim the bantamweight belt he lost back in 2024.
