Charles Oliveira calls out Justin Gaethje for winner-takes-all BMF and lightweight title fight after UFC Freedom 250

BMF champion Charles Oliveira has put forth a fight proposal for newly-crowned UFC lightweight champion Justin Gaethje after UFC Freedom 250.
Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje are no strangers to one another. Brazil's Oliveira has now seemingly reignited their feud by issuing a call-out to Gaethje.
The Safford-born Gaethje represented his nation, the United States of America, against the Georgian-Spaniard Ilia Topuria in the headlining match of the UFC Freedom 250 event. It transpired at the White House in Washington, D.C., on June 14, and saw Gaethje hand Topuria his first MMA loss.
Gaethje entered the matchup as the interim UFC lightweight champion, whereas Topuria was the UFC lightweight champion. Their back-and-forth title unification fight ended with a fourth-round corner stoppage TKO win for Gaethje, as Topuria couldn't continue into the fifth round.

Heading into UFC 274 in May 2022, then-UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira missed the lightweight championship weight limit by 0.5 pounds, coming in at 155.5 pounds.
As such, "Do Bronx" was stripped of the lightweight belt, and his opponent, Justin Gaethje, was the only one eligible to win the belt in their matchup. Regardless, Oliveira submitted Gaethje, and the latter didn't win the belt.
Oliveira eventually fought ex-UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria for the vacant UFC lightweight championship in June of 2025. Topuria foiled his plans of becoming a two-time lightweight champion, knocking out Oliveira in the very first round.
Fast-forward to the here and now in June 2026, and Topuria is coming off his first mixed martial arts defeat, having dropped the lightweight title to Gaethje.
It's noteworthy that both Oliveira and Topuria have consistently expressed their respect for one another. "El Matador" recently lauded Oliveira's mindset of valiantly bouncing back from devastating defeats inside the octagon.
On that note, after Topuria's loss -- one in which he suffered significant damage -- Oliveira has now sent words of encouragement to him. Taking to X, Oliveira wrote:
"You're going to comeback stronger as the champ you're. All respect, what main event #UFCWhiteHouse"

Charles Oliveira's call-out of Justin Gaethje after UFC Freedom 250
Justin Gaethje managed to win the undisputed UFC lightweight championship after three shots at it. Back in 2020, he was the interim lightweight champion and fought then-lightweight kingpin Khabib Nurmagomedov. The Russian fighter beat Gaethje via submission.
Additionally, Gaethje's second shot at undisputed gold came against Charles Oliveira in 2022, wherein Oliveira submitted him. Gaethje's third shot, however, saw him beat Ilia Topuria last week and finally become the undisputed UFC lightweight champion.
Considering the variables at play, including their history with each other, Oliveira has now laid down a challenge for Gaethje. On one hand, "Do Bronx" is the reigning BMF champion. On the other hand, America's Gaethje is an ex-BMF champion and reigning lightweight titlist.
Well, Oliveira has now tagged Gaethje in an X post and suggested that they should clash in a winner-takes-all showdown for the BMF and lightweight titles. He wrote:
"#BMF and #UFC lightweight belt - let's make history. Deal? Winner takes all... @Justin_Gaethje"
