Conor McGregor Draws Gardaí Attention in Alleged Perjury Investigation

Conor McGregor is being sought by Gardaí for questioning in an alleged perjury investigation linked to his civil appeal.
Conor McGregor is being sought by the Irish police for allegedly lying about Nikita Hand in a civil case. The Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (NBCI) has reportedly attempted to arrange an interview with the former UFC champion after his recent failed attempt to appeal the verdict in the case. Moreover, he has remained outside Ireland for several months.
The boxer has not been charged in connection with the investigation as the police try to establish if he committed perjury. McGregor's solicitor, Ciaran Mulholland, has confirmed that the fighter is willing to cooperate with the authorities.
Gardai Seek to Speak With Conor McGregor
As per reports, the investigation is said to center on affidavits and statements made in connection with McGregor's unsuccessful appeal of the civil judgment of Hand. Additionally, Gardai have recovered a mobile phone belonging to one of McGregor's associates as part of their investigation.
The NBCI is said to have initially attempted to contact McGregor in September 2025 and contacted him again this year. However, to date, the investigators are yet to interview the former two-division UFC champ.

McGregor’s solicitor, Ciaran Mulholland, stated to the Irish Mirror that his client has remained in California while receiving medical care.
“Mr McGregor has been out of the jurisdiction since his UFC Las Vegas fight and remains out of the jurisdiction under medical care and advice in California,” McGregor’s solicitor said. “This office made direct contact with Gardaí last September when this matter was first reported in the media, confirming Mr McGregor’s willingness to assist Gardaí with their enquiries as a witness.”
Moreover, Mulholland confirmed that McGregor is willing to cooperate with the investigation once he is medically cleared to travel.
“Mr McGregor is willing to assist Gardaí and has offered to do this remotely from the US or upon his return to the jurisdiction when he’s medically fit to travel," he added.
Two People Already Face Perjury Charges
The investigation was conducted after the events related to two people who provided affidavits with false information for McGregor's appeal.
Samantha O’Reilly and Steven Cummins were charged with alleged false statements relating to judicial proceedings. It was later discovered that the affidavits presented by them had a specific purpose of supporting McGregor's appeal, although his legal team withdrew the application to introduce the affidavits.
As of now, Mulholland states that McGregor is not charged with perjury and remains willing to cooperate with authorities either remotely from the United States or in person from Ireland when he is medically fit to travel.
